Thanks for the replies.
I have had a K5 for about two years, I picked up a new K5 ll this weekend, just wanting to keep things simple for quick viewing photo files while using both cameras...
I was looking for the convenience of being able to quickly look at both the K5 ll pef files and, as I have been doing with the K5 pef files, using the Windows Live Photo Gallery.
I had downloaded the latest Codec Pack from MS knowing that it didn’t support the K5 ll the other day.
I guess what I find surprising is that the K5 and K5 ll actually have pef files that are so different..

Any one know of a fix?
Thanks....

Never with my K20 but a few times now with my new K5, and with only about a hundred actuations on it.
Just a single extra flip, I failed to check if it actually took a second photo but definitely will if and when it happens again.

I have recently moved from the K20 to a K5, at the same time I changed out a few of my lenses, the 17-70 SDM DA was what I picked up to serve as my “Walkabout Lens”. Pleased to see the results of this combination in your photos, well done.

Thanks for the information.
I did just buy this, but missed the bit about TTL only.
My macro lens is a "M" series Pentax so I use this in the manual position anyway...
I was a little concerned about the extra two pins on the base of this flash, not wanting to cause damage to my camera I thought it best to ask here first to see if anyone was having any success with this combination...
Thanks

Hi guys,
Anyone using the Vivitar 6000 AF Macro Ring Flash (Pentax version) on a K20?
I checked the contact pin voltage, it seems safe at 7.6 volts.
I understand that this flash was designed for certain film Pentax cameras but was hopeful that it could be used on my K20 DSLR.
Any information is welcome, thanks in advance.

I use the set from Expert Shield, ordered on eBay, went on well and fit is great on both protectors.
The kit includes one for the back screen also one for the top display
No noticeable loss thru the display.

I just received my first issue of Poplar Photography. The subscription was a gift but I'm disappointed with the mag... Though I'll never tell my wife...
Next year I'll drop hints well before Christmas of other magazines I would prefer.

I have also been trying to get information about safe flash voltages, I sent an email to Sunpak concerning my old flash unit, here is the email I sent and the reply I received back...
I measured the voltage at the pin on this flash and found it to be 42 volts...
I have been using the flash with no problems showing..
The 3600 is virtually the same as Sunpak 522, though I have heard reports of much higher voltages on the pin of the 522...

My email...
Dear Sir,
I have the Sunpak Auto Zoom 3600 Thyristor Flash unit and want to use it with my New Pentax K20d DSLR camera.
The Pentax has a "X-Sync" socket that the flash sync cord will fit into, but I have been warned the the power level at the flash sync cord is too high and will destroy my camera.
I would like to know if this flash would be safe to use with this camera or not, and if possible to find out, just what is the level of voltage present at the sync cord of the 3600 flash unit?
I bought this wonderful flash new many years ago and I have used it for many years on my Pentax Film camera, I really would like to be able to continue using the flash with the new Pentax DSLR if it is safe to do so without damaging the Pentax K20d.
Thanks for any help that you can forward to me.
Answer back...
Dear Sir,
Thank you for the long use of Sunpak auto Zoom 3600.
This flash is of low voltage and may not damage Pentax K20d.
Best Regards
Tatsuhiko Toh

While hunting down old glass that I have for the new K20d I remembered I had bought my wife a camera and a couple of lenses in the early seventies. I found the old case and in it a KORINAR AUTO 135 F1:2.8 lens, number 1624150.
My question is.. Does anyone know anything about this lens, I did a Google search but found little or no information.
The glass looks great, aperture functions well, hell it looks new, I bet my wife never put more than two rolls of film thru that camera...
Any information would be appreciated..
I'll mount it on the K20d and see how well it really works...
Thanks..

Thanks Ash,
This is my first dslr, I have been "playing" with digital using a HP850 with reasonable results.
But so loving the K20d, gave the HP to one of my daughters...

Hello to all on this forum, I am a new K20d owner having purchased my camera two weeks ago.
Photography has been a hobby for me for many years, started 35 mm with a K1000, then moved to the MX. I still have the MX and will be using my "M" series glass with the K20d.
I have been doing loads of reading on this site and following many links, gathering tips and information along the way.
Thanks for all the help so far...
And in advance for I'm sure to have a few questions..
