Since this is my widest lens, I try to use it for landscapes aside from the nice FE effect.

Hope you liked it!

i'm guessing disassembly is not an option for me then! I'll try the UV light first. If that fails, i'll just have to take more photos using this lens before it dies :)

thanks for the replies, everyone!

Took my da 50-200 to a 3 day trip with continuous light rain and strong winds. While doing my complete cleaning when I got home, I saw fungus growth on the front element.

My question is:

Can I disassemble the 50-200 and clean/sterilize that fungus area?

Thanks colinb23.

To answer your questions;
I was around 11 inches from the subject. I cropped 1/9th of the original shot.

Lighting set-up used was a YN460II at 1/8 power thru a recycled KFC bucket lid as a diffuser.

[macro] Computing magnification?

Hello all!

I am curious as to how you derive magnification from stacking lenses.
I've read that if I reverse a 50mm on a 200mm the magnification will be 4:1 (200/50).

My question is, how can I compute the magnification if i were to reverse mount the 50mm on a 100mm 1:1 macro lens set to 1:1?

Any clue will be appreciated :)

I spied this tiny thing from taking a pic of a fly on top of its leaf/web/home. Makes a better model than the fly.

i gave it my best! but the critter didnt even bat an eyelash!

the vivitar is my first and so far only macro/prime/manual/old lens. During my initial research, people say its an earlier version of the kiron 105 f2.8 with a link to a comparative article written in german. I like the heft and craftsmanship of the lens. As for optical quality, I think its producing very good shots for my taste.

edit. found the article

keh has vivitar 100 2.8 macros since before christmas till now, I looked it up and people say its the previous version of the famous 105 2.8 but still the same glass.

Mine should be at the mailing address in 2 days :D.

If I had your budget, I'll go with the sigma 105 just for its longer distance
