I spend a fair chunk of time helping out with animals at our local shelter. Here are some of my recent photos of some animals from there and one of my "foster fails". With the cats, I struggle with the lighting in the room.

Hi all,
As the title implies, I am not actually a new member, but it's been 9 years since my last post so I thought that was a long enough gap to re-introduce myself.
My gear has been a little under used, particularly the last couple of years, but I have been using it a bit more recently (so far mostly just taking some photos of animals (mostly cats & dogs) from the shelter that I volunteer at or ones that we are fostering. Using my gear again has brought that itch back so I thought I would also try post on here to help keep me engaged.
I still have my Pentax K-x and K-5 - I'm impressed at how well they still hold up and I think it's a real testament to the value of quality glass.
Well I'm looking forward to being around here a little bit more again!

I watch a bit of club rugby here from time to time and took my K-x along last weekend. Didn't get any great action shots but here are a couple of okay ones:
These were taken with a DAL 55-300mm. I also tried a couple of night games to see how things went with pushing the ISO up (note - I'm not entirely happy with the colour and white balance but still working on getting that right for night time sports). I would like to have a faster telephoto but this is just for fun so there are other lenses that I'd rather spend money on first.
And for Arpe's benefit, go the Reds this weekend!
