I use this lens maybe once or twice a year along with the 1.4 TC and every year I think about selling it. This lens can compete heads up with any *lens on the market today. I would sell one of my kids before I sold my Sigma 100~300 EX + 1.4 TC.
And that's all I have to say about that...

It's going to be hard to part with that Zen as it's one of my best 'Fun' lenses to use, and my signature lens. I've taken some amazing pics with it. Here's a couple for you with that lens
with the K10
and the K20 ---------- Post added 04-22-2012 at 06:56 PM ----------
Good luck with your ebay bids, but if it doesn't work out for you come back and see what I have left.
But at these prices they may not last long...

Good shot of the beaver Jim, I've seen lots of them when I was living in Montana but never close enough to get a good shot even with a 500mm.
Well done...

Nice pics of the BHS Jack. I'll be in Glacier in about 1-1/2 weeks, hope to get some pics of them. Although I have to travel 2600 miles to get there which includes a couple of detours through the Badlands, SD, then Beartooth All American Road, Red Lodge, MT, finally through Yellowstone up to Helena, MT.
Pics too follow...

Beautiful shots Jim, I'll be heading up near you in a couple of weeks. I won't make it down to the Tetons but I'll be going through the upper part of Yellowstone by way of the Beartooth Hwy, Cooke City to West Yellowstone and up to Helena, MT. Looking forward to the trip and hope to get some pics as good as yours...

The 2 second timer works great if your K20/K10 is on a tripod and your bracketing your shots for HDR. Set the 2 second timer and the amount of shots, 3 or 5, and pull the triger. Mirror goes up and 2 seconds later it takes the first shot and repeats for the next shot and the next.

Hi Jim
I was at the extreme close up limits of this lens with these shots and was surprised at how well they came out.
I was very close to these and had to zoom with my feet sometimes as I was to close for focus. I should have shot them at f16 or above for a little more DOF but the speed would not have been fast enough without going to a higher iso.
After shooting with the DA 16-45 for 3 years and the DA 17-70 for only 2 weeks, I would have to say,,, No comparison...
The DA 16-45 is a fantastic lens and I would advise anyone with just the kit lens in that range to upgrade to the 16-45. It is well worth the money, you can pick one up in like new condition for half the price of the DA 17-70.
Now with that said and having the DA 17-70, my DA 16-45 may never see the light of day through my K20 again. Yes you loose 1mm on the wide end but the extra 25mm on the long end more then makes up for it. It also takes a 67mm filter (same as 16-45), zooms(extends) to the long end of the lens(16-45 opposite), on board flash does not get blocked out at any range(16-45 blocks at the wide end). SDM, SDM, SDM, (my first SDM lens), quick, accurate, Even In Low Light!!!
________Maybe I just got a good copy, Thank You Pentax...
