This photo of my hard-working mom is one frame of a stereo pair taken by my dad in 1962 using a TDC Stereo Colorist (model I, the viewfinder). This is only one of many family photos he took with this camera over the years, but few of them came out as sharp and clear as this one.

Kris and Claire swinging and singing. Taken spring or summer 1974 with an Asahi Pentax S1a and a Super-Takumar 55mm f/2, probably using Kodak Ektachrome. Scanned with Epson V500.

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher at sunrise. These tiny birds, not much bigger than a hummingbird, flit through the trees picking small insects off the underside of leaves. I was lucky that this one paused above my head long enough for the K-5 IIs to focus the DA* 300 on it.

A good way to burn a lot of film fast. Pentax LX with motor wind, Yashica DX 50mm f/1.7, and AF 400T flash. Yes, I know, the cable needs to be attached. Right now I have only the long cable and didn't want to show that pile of cable in the shot.

I stepped off the trail and stood for a couple of minutes to get a shot across the marshes, and when I turned around to go back, this little fellow had hopped out of the high weeds behind me. I shot him with a DA* 300.

I got to the nearby wildlife protection area early Christmas Eve morning, and the sun was just rising. This tiny Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, barely bigger than a hummingbird and fluffed up in the morning chill, lit in a bare tree just a few feet above my head, giving my camera time to focus the DA* 300mm. These little birds normally move almost constantly, flitting from limb to limb picking small insects off the underside of leaves.

These tiny little birds--barely bigger than a hummingbird--flit through trees and bushes picking gnat-sized insects from the undersides of leaves. They are so small and move almost constantly at such a high speed that they are hard to photograph. I was lucky that this one, puffed up in the early morning chill, paused for a moment in a bare tree above my head. That moment was long enough to let my camera autofocus the DA* 300.

Everyday Bessa. Here, brought forward through the time portal from 1935, is the common Voigtländer folding viewfinder with the common Voigtar f/4.5 lens. Comparable to the Kodak Six-20 of the same period but with less bling.

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier. I dug into a couple of meters about ten years ago and posted my notes online at Pentax Meter. Maybe they'll be of help to someone.

Here's my black/silver pair. The ASA/exposure comp ring (at the base of the lens) can give fits sometimes, but when it is clean and lubed and working smoothly you can quickly see why the K2 was the Pentax flagship in the mid-70s.

I got my first TLR recently, also a Minolta Autocord (I, from 1965), and in the same week I bought a Canon QL17 GIII--both from local dealers. The Autocord has the Rokkor 75mm f/3.5 and Citizen-MVL shutter, and when I got it the focus lever was frozen solid (don't force it!) and the shutter and aperture selection levers were stiff--a sure sign of stiff grease under the faceplate. So I sent it for a thorough CLA with TLR guru Karl Bryan, and now it works smooth as silk. It's loaded with Portra 400 NC. I put new light seals in the Canon, gave it a good cleaning myself, and it's ready to shoot with Superia X-TRA 400.

I count 54 film cameras, of which 20 are Pentaxes, including 2 ME Supers and 2 Super Programs. This is the latest film camera, given to me by a friend who was cleaning house:

I agree. Also, I have big hands and long fingers--and a little "arthuritis"--so the KX is easier to use than the little MX, which makes me scrunch up my fingers too much. I have a motor drive for my MX, which bulks it up a little, but I still prefer to use the KX.

pbfarm, thanks for the great holiday shots with the 18-135--especially the one with the teddy bears. Merry Christmas to you, too!

Here's a shot with the DA 55-300 f/4-5.8 ED WR yesterday.

Use of the Sigma DC 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 as an all-in-one tourist lens. These two shots were taken from a ship on the Rhine at 30mm and 200mm, respectively. The wide end could be a little sharper, but all-in-all, I was satisfied with the travel photos I took with it.
