Well, I just read that Budweiser had a bad year. I think maybe I should focus (pun intended) on helping them.

I checked my email after I wrote the above reply about a rental option and found an email from Lensrentals with an extended holiday offer: 7 days free when you place a rental to be delivered by 12.19.23 and returned after 1.1.24. Use Code: FREEWEEK23
I already posted this info on the Pentax Price Watch forum, where it should be easier to find that here if someone wants to take them up on their offer.

Joining a new social media platform. It was initially just for curiosity. A totally unintended consequence is that I found far more interest in and engagement with my photographic creations than I ever did before (including on Flickr, where I normally posted work and should have been a no-brainer, and here). Not just "likes", but conversations, about the art and the story telling, not about the gear. This motivated me to shoot more, to stretch myself out a bit in what I did. A side benefit is that I hardly ever think of new/different equipment any more, and my precious free time is put to better use shooting, editing, sharing, and enjoying. Long may it remain so.

You all know this superstar of our forum, in his discussions he's firmly data driven, but remains a perfect gentleman throughout.
Vincent is a doctor in rural Virginia (near the Blue Ridge Mountains) who amongst other things takes wonderfully sensitive shots of his family and the district, his Flickr is definitely worth checking out: Vincent1825 | Flickr |

So, I was checking the FB marketplace when a message pops out for a new K1 body for sale. I thought to myself, yeah right, but the pictures were convincing so I gave the seller a message asking for its background. The seller said that they needed the money badly hence the low price. It belongs to her uncle and guarantee that it was new and wasn't used and they do not have any lens to test it with. I didn't haggle for a lower price and agreed to meet and inspect the unit and bring in a new memory card and lens. Hell, for that price if the unit was used it would still be a winner as long as the camera was fully functional.
After 3.5 hours travel over 85km of traffic jam, I arrived at the meeting place. They gave me the box of the K1 and noticed that it was dilapidated and had packing tape on the sides. Physical check of the unit turned out fine and unit looks clean except for some traces of dried white liquid substance that was present in the memory card chamber and the back of the LCD flip screen. Looks like water damage or some liquid substance that was spilled over the unit. Put the lens on and performed some test and the unit works as intended. I told her, I just needed to know the shutter count of the camera and see if the pictures were OK when viewed on a laptop. Testing the shutter count and this pop out of my screen:
ME: :) Pulled out my wallet and paid her.
I guess I'm now a member of the FF club.

The Panasonic Lumix LX100 II could be a good compromise. Micro 4/3, compact size, 24-75 mm lens, F1.7 at 24mm. The big treat in this small camera is that it has all of the control knobs, dials, rings that your big Pentax has in a small size. It will fit in a big jacket pocket.

Is the head fully tightened down to the base? If it is and still misaligned, I would call B&H. I'm sure they will take it back and make things right. Best customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.

Social clubs based around a common interest should have a foundation of mutual support, the best do. That foundation allows for both trust and a spirit of friendly competition for those that want the challenge.
A good club will encourage members to learn from and to teach each each other.

In many email programs you can hover over a link and it will show the URL that the link will take you to if you click it. As long as you don't have an itchy trigger finger and might click by accident this is an easy way to see if a link is legitimate or not.

Good idea for a thread Wolfiegirl, I like the Jewelry one and the oatmeal. I have some inside ones too but heres a backyard one to get started. I know picking up the trash can and cutting the grass is normal but taking a picture works for me!

This is from one of the first outings I ever did with my then new K10D, in February 2008. In early 2013 I was going through older photos and came across the original jpeg (color) of this, and it had saw some potential so I did some editing and got this.
Interestingly, the end result really shows (in my mind) what I was visualizing when I originally shot it, but back then I didn't have the know how to make what I was seeing come out in the final image. |

So a K10D picture won the "Project 52" weekly challenge this past week... this is it, with the Tokina 19-35 (AF193) and a Nikon warming filter on it... not much PP, mostly just levels adjustment (for the whole pic) and the default sharpening. Lilian Webb Park Fountain by ChristianRock, on Flickr
