Question about limited lenses.

According to Pentax UK:

QuoteQuote:

Since more expensive materials are used and a complex production process employed, PENTAX manufactures a restricted number of the “Limited Edition” lenses on a daily basis.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
(FS) SMC M*300/4.0 Sale Pending

Asking Price
325 US$ / 255 €

Item Description
The M* 300 speaks much for itself. Very sharp even wide open, compact, quite hand-holdable, built like a tank.

This copy has seen quite some use, but still operates nice and smooth. The aperture blades are snappy, oil-free, and symmetrical on small apertures. There are obvious signs of wear on the aperture ring and lens barrel, but just wear. No scratches or dents.

The glass is flawless. No scratches or cleaning marks. A few small specks of internal dust -- inevitable on a lens of this age.

I sell this little gem because after owning it for 16 months I have yet not taken any pictures with it. (except for the obligatory test pictures and moon shot, wich came out mighty fine thank you).
So I've come to the conclusion that 300mm just isn't for me. I should have known that, I hardly use my 200mm even on film bodies.

I happily ship worldwide. Postage, insured and signed for, is included in the price.

If four lenses is the limit then:

DA 11-16/2.8 (hopefully upcoming)
DA 21/3.2
FA 31/1.8
DA 50-135/2.8

What I'm actually working towards:

DA 15/4.0
DA 21/3.2
FA 31/1.8
FA 50/1.4
FA 77/1.8
A 100/4.0 macro
"K" 135/2.5

I have nothing but love for the LX. I got my first one in 1981 and is still using it. My second one was bought in 2004, but is of almost the same age as the first one -- serials 5257*** and 5263***.

According to a statement from the head of operations in the P.Sc. office, the personell is being made redundant and nordic operations will be managed from Germany via the Swedish branch of Focus Trading. He also claims that none of the old staff is moving to Focus Trading.
So, yes, I'm fairly sure that the Uppsala located office is being closed.
And I will miss the availability, the service-mindedness, and the Pentax-savvy-ness of the experienced local guys.

I live within walking distance from the Pentax Scandinavia office, and while their services indeed have been excellent it must also be noted that the whole office consisted of four (4) employees. All reparations and services were outsourced; digital to Zeigler -- whom as I understand it will continue to service the digital line -- and analog to Pentax Germany.
While it is regrettable that P.Sc. is dismanteled, and with it many years of experience, it is in the whole picture actually not a big deal.
But I will miss them.

Congrats.

I'm pretty darn close myself. Just that elusive 200/2.5 for witch I still am hunting.
And maybe upgrading the M*300/4 to a A*300/4.

Otherwise I'm just fine and dandy.

The 31 remains a dream unless I win the lottery.

I bought my first SLR back in 1978, i think i was. It was a C***n AE-1. A few years later I got to borrow a Pentax LX, and everything just felt so right ...

I got a fair price for my C***n stuff, and bought an LX, a M28/2.0, a M50/1.4 and a M85/2.0. I have never regretted that move. The LX is still alive and kicking after 28 years, and three years ago I bought a second body. Nowadays I also have two MX's and a 645n and assorted glass from 18 to 300mm

And in March I bought myself a K20d.

Great stuff.

I've got
K18/3.5, K28/3.5, M50/2.0, A50/1.4, K85/1.8, MacroA100/4.0, K135/2.5, K200/4.0

So it's pretty darn close to 1.7x increase between all of them (except the macro), and that's fine with me. But I'm saving up for the 31 and the 77. And keeping an eye open for a K200/2.5 or a A200/2.8. Not because I think I need them, just ... LBA I guess.
