I am fairly new to all of this and was wondering where some of you get your photos printed? I have taken a few shots that I would like to get printed, say 11 x 17 or 8 x 10, have them dry mounted and framed. Do most of you get this done locally, or is there a place that you send your images (digitally) to have this service done for you?

Thanks,

Here is another that I took at my local park this past weekend. The fog has almost llifted completely. You can still see the remnants of the fog in the back ground.

I have downloaded Photoshop Elements 8 and liked what I saw, so I ordered the disc from Newegg for $85, free shipping. They also have a $20 mail in rebate, so when it is all said and done, it will cost me about $65. Not too bad!! :)

Here is a shot that I took at my local park this morning. The fog had just about burned off at this point, but can still see some residual fog in the background. This version of the photo has been altered somewhat with PhotoShop and Picasa. I am fairly new to this and I am trying to improve my composition and technique. Looking for any and all comments.

Thank you,

Here are a couple of pictures that I would like your comments on. I have been involved in photography for many years, but have been mainly taking "snap shots". I would like to take my hobby to the next level. I have never taken a photography class, but have read a couple of books along the way.
Anyway, all comments are welcome, that is the only way I'll learn how to take great photos.

Thanks

Photo Editing Software

I was talking to a co-worker yesterday about photo editing software, such as Photoshop, and today, he gave me a disc that he had Paint Shop Pro, Version 7. I think this software is about 8 years old. He also gave me two books on how to teach yourself Paint Shop Pro! One book has 406 pages and the other has 98 pages. I think I will try this out before I purchase any software. I'm sure that you probably can not import RAW files, but for free, I'll try it!!!

As I mentioned in a previous response in this thread, I have down loaded the trial version of Paint Shop Pro Photo X2. I will compare the two and see if it will be worth it to purchase the newer version.

Thanks everyone for ALL your suggestions and comments. From what I can see, for the money (about $40.00), Paint Shop Pro X2 seems to have some really good reviews. I am by no means a professional photographer, just someone who is trying to take some good photos as a hobby. I simply would like to be able to "enhance" my photos to look cleaner and brighter then they do straight from the camera. I am mainly interested in nature and landscape photography. I think I will download the trial version to see if I like it.

Thanks,

Hi,

I am fairly new here and have been reading a lot of threads in the past few weeks. I am learning so much from all of you!! My question is: I see that a lot of you are using Photoshop for editing your photos. What is a good software to use for someone (like myself) that is on a budget and can't afford Photoshop?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am new to this forum and have been looking around for a while in regards to how to add these nice signature tags that some of you have. I would like to add one of these (K100D Super - proud owner) to my signature, but am unclear as to how to do it. Any help?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am new to his forum and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tom and I have been involved with photography since I got my first camera (Pentax K1000) back in 1979. I have only used that camera for “snap shots”, nothing professional. Along the way, I managed to accumulate an additional 7 lenses. It was a good camera for its time (and still is).
About two years ago, I decided to go digital, so I purchased a K100D Super. I already had the additional lenses, so buying another Pentax was a no-brainer. I have not used this camera very much, but now I would like to learn how to get the most out of this great camera!! My interests are in nature photography and landscapes.

Thanks for reading,

Thanks Marc,

That was one of the reasons I decided to continue with the Pentax brand. I was almost certain that I would be able to use my older lenses, but now I know for sure that I can!! Thanks again.

noblepa,

I have done some research in regards to the book that you recommended "Understanding Exposure" - by Bryan Peterson, It was one of the most recommended books that I could find. I ordered one and hope to receive it later this week. Thanks for the recommendation!
