I'm going to have to send in my 55-300PLM as well - it has stopped focusing entirely and is basically a paperweight now. I've only had it since May, but it quickly became my favorite lens to use. :/
Keep us updated on how the repair goes - I've also put in an email request to Ricoh asking guidance due to the lens not being listed on Precision Camera's site.

I realize this is an old thread, but I recently upgraded from a K-x to a K-3ii and while I wasn't actively shopping for one, the vendor threw in a battery grip (https://www.pentaxforums.com/accessoryreviews/pentax-battery-grip-bg-5-k-3.html) with my order. With the battery grip, I have the option of running the camera entirely off of AAs if I choose to do so, at the cost of a little additional bulk to carry. I am a big fan of the lithium battery the K-3ii came with, but plugging AAs into the K-x saved me more than once, so this compromise seems like the best of both worlds.

This seemed like a good idea at the time but Amazon is sure taking its sweet time getting this one in stock. :( Lots of other retailers have this kit in stock, so it seems odd to me. I can't get any answers from them via email other than obvious copy-paste "you will get an email when it ships, now stop bothering us" replies.
