I am a very novice photographer and I'm hoping this is something that is easily corrected. I'm using a Pentax K20D and iPhoto. When I request images to be printed the photos is automatically cropped and the sides get cut off. I have been told that this is because of the aspect ratio and the fact that traditional size prints don't match the aspect ratio. As a result the original composition is ruined. Any thoughts of how to correct this?

I just bought a K20D. My first DSLR. It's going to take me a minute to figure everything out, but I noticed something strange last night when I was shooting some pictures. I'm not sure if this is normal or if I've changed a setting or something without knowning it when exploring all the features. When I play back the pictures to view them the dark areas are flashing in yellow. It's as if the camera is showing me the areas that are under/over exposed. Is that normal? And if so, is this the only mode to view photos in or is this a feature I can turn off?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
