Ok, so I just read the thread comparing the two adapters, and I see no compelling reason to spend $250 on an adapter when the whole camera/lens was $250 :-)
Putting a K-mount lens on the Q would be for fun anyway, as extreme tele is not usually something I find I need that often. It will be fun to play around and if I get serious with macro I can always upgrade.

A related question.... Is it really necessary to buy the Pentax Q-K adapter? It's $250 while the Fotodiox is around $25 and both have the aperture ring. What is the difference between the two, and is it compelling enough to spend the extra 200+ on it? I would think not but want to get the best bang for the buck. I think the 3rd party adapter also has a tripod ring? I could see that being important for a big lens on a tiny body.
Has the new firmware improved focusing aid for these "manual" lenses?

Lightroom 3 takes up 100.9 MB on my Mac. Lightroom 4 Beta? 943 MB???? Are they kidding? Adobe is the king of bloatware. Holy crap, LR4 better be 10X better then LR3.

I think the FA 50 1.4 is great (and cheap)
I also use the Tamron 17-50 and Sigma 50-150 for portraits. The Sigma is better for outdoors when you can get a bit farther away. The only thing I wish is these lenses had better close focus. I find I like to get really close sometimes, and the pictures are not in good focus at close range. Maybe the Tamron 90mm Macro would be a good lens for this?

Sold my K200D here in the marketplace, and upgraded to the K5. The K5 is better in every way, and I'm so happy I made the decision.

Do a search in the lens part of the forum, and you'll find many, many threads on this exact subject. Check out the Sigma 10-20 lens club too for all the info and ammo you need to make your decision. *Spolier alert* The Sigma is way better than the Tamron.
I love my Sigma. It's also unnecessary to get the 3.5 HSM version, the older, cheaper one is just as good if not better.

People that just show up on an internet forum, and immediately start bad mouthing established members of the forum, have ZERO credibility in my (and I'm sure lots of others) mind. If you published your theory in a calm, logical manner, instead of DEMANDING answers, maybe you'd be taken seriously. Read a forum for a while, before you just jump in like you are the king. That is standard forum etiquette, which is something you obviously lack.
If you want help, you sure are going about it in the wrong way.

Not true. Amazon usually lists the lowest price on an item, and if that happens to be from a reseller, then that is what is displayed. On the right-hand side of the page, you'll see other sellers for that item, and Amazon MAY be a seller listed there. But 9 times out of 10, the price from Amazon is higher. If it's not a seller I'm comfortable with, I always look to see if Amazon carries it (at a higher price). If you don't pay attention when buying something, that's just your fault.
I pretty much exclusively order things from Amazon, if they carry them, as they almost always have the lowest prices, there's no tax, and I get free 2 day shipping. I can also return anything, for any reason, within 30 days, with free return shipping.
Amazon does not scam people. That is not how they do business, and anyone telling you otherwise is full of crap.

just return it, or stop with these ridiculous threads. No way in hell the K-x beats the K-5 in anything, except for price.

Don't worry about it. Buy your k-5 with confidence that it will take great pictures.

I wouldn't get the HSM version of the Sigma 10-20. autofocus speed is really not an issue with a UWA, and the older, non HSM version has been shown to have better IQ.
Some more suggestions (if you don't need the weatherproofing of the DA*zooms):
Tamron 17-50 2.8 - superb lens, inexpensive ~$400
Tamron or Sigma 28-75 2.8 - also excellent IQ ~400
The Pentax 50-135 is a great lens. The only other option in this area is the discontinued Sigma 50-150. If you were going with a 28-75, you could then get the Tamron or Sigma 70-200, both of which are excellent.
So the UWA and the 2 mid zooms would be about $1300, plus the Sigma 70-200 for another $950, or the Tamron version for $750.

It's a great bag for your pentax camera, a short to medium zoom, and 2 more lenses, plus room for cell phone, batteries, etc. Perfect for vacation or short hikes. The padding is very comfortable and the sling feature is excellent. I've moved onto bigger, bulkier bags as my lens/gear collection has grown, but find myself choosing the Pentax sling bag more often than not due to it's small size and good comfort.

I'm sorry, but that's a ridiculous comment. Amazon has the best return policy in the business, IMO. They may not know cameras like the others, but certainly should be selling the same volume.

I'd take that with a grain of salt. From what I've seen on this forum, and with a direct comparison to my friend's DA*, the Sigma is more than comparable. And faster. And no SDM issues. But the Sigma is not weather-sealed. And some like the color rendition of the DA* better. Otherwise, I'd say you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two.

I just bought a Sigma 50-150 used from the marketplace, and I'm very impressed with it so far. Whisper quiet and FAST focusing. Beautiful bokeh and sharp pictures. I've only tried it out indoors so far, with some shots of my nephew. Can't wait to try it outside in good light.
Taken at ISO 3200 and 6400..

How about forgetting about trying to find fault with your camera, and just go take some pictures?
