I've been waiting for the right time to move up from the K-30 and I think the K-P is the ticket.. a nice upgrade in a smaller/lighter package.. and from reviews it should be much quieter as well.. not to mention all the spec upgrades... I think the KP will be a good little camera to last me for awhile... just ordered and should get it by Tues..

since the site is down and you can't order properly I think it'd be nice if they honored it even if it runs out of stock..

Love this strap and as a women it's the only piece of eqiupment I've ever seen with an option for women. The woman's model has a slight S curve in front that makes it fall comfortably between the girls instead of across. :)

Yes there is a remote, waterproof at that and the sensor is on the front of the camera.

I'm a pretty happy camper either way.. but I will throw out some food for thought..
more colors.. harder to make it blend in at work.. :P not that anyone would have to worry about such things.. :)

well all I know about Ricoh is we switched from Xerox to Ricoh copiers/printers at work and they are cheap/plastic pieces of crap.. I sure hope that won't be the trend with cameras..
and I don't want a camera named Ricoh.. :(

Love your photos, especially the middle one... and if I might ask.. how do you link from flickr so that the image shows like that instead of just a link?
Ming
That's a dramatic shot... what is going on there? is it all one photo?

I saw this question on reddit and thought it would be interesting to see it answered specifically from Pentax users..
If you are just grabbing one lens to do nothing specific, but to have your camera with you and ready, which lens would it be?
For someone new like myself I think your answers will be an education..
Thanks Much
Deborah

Another vote for Faststone.. god I love that program.. between that and Paintshop Pro I think you'd be in good shape and won't spend a fortune..

I have to say as someone new to photography and just entering the frey I'm so disappointed in Pentax.. I really feel duped.. I went out on a limb to begin with in buying a Pentax.. It isn't exactly the most supported camera in the US.. I have barely gotten started just to see an upgrade come out.. why even dupe people into the K-x to begin with, just put out the K-r in the first place..
If some time had gone by I could understand it, but it feels more like they wanted to push off their experimental camera before selling the real thing.. I just really feel taken advantage of..
When my time comes to go to the next level I'm going to be real apprehensive about buying another Pentax..

I tried to order the current Sigma just a couple of weeks ago.. They ended up canceling my order because they were out of stock and Sigma no longer carries the lens..
Now I know why.. to bad I went ahead and got the Pentax 17-70..

Paul you make some good points.. and certainly internet sales make a huge impact these days, but don't under estimate the human need for tactile input.. now yes I did end up ordering my K-x online.. but before making an expensive purchase like this I hunted one down to pick up and hold before I placed my order.. If I hadn't gone out of my way to find a Kx the path of least resistance would have been a Cannon or Nikon..

Monochrome.. sounds like your friend just isn't a DSLR kinda guy.. he probably would say the same about a D5000 or Ti..
