Lots of awesome suggestions for books. I think that with Ansel you take what you need form it. I agree there are probably lots of great books. I have found that the library carries a great deal of them. So if any one is looking to read to see if it is good, search the library database. If you like it you can buy it.

I would say that reading Ansel Adams books on the print, negative, and the camera is a good starting point into understanding photography. I like film but I believe that the books can be easily be transitioned to digital.
