Beautiful Mesquite Dunes, in Death Valley (USA), are always a great source of inspiration for me and lend themselves to long exposure abstract images perfectly. Leica SL, Voigtlander 15mm, Formatt-Hitech Firecrest filters. Thanks for viewing, best regards

What is he doing with this black thing and the funny mirror in front of it ?

A bycatch, because I actually wanted to take pictures of flying bumblebees ....
Therefore the high ISO setting for a short exposure time.

The visitor stayed only briefly and disappeared again ....

Travel A seven day autumn hike with a tent, one camera and two lenses

I've already shown some photo's of the Northern Lights I encountered but I also tried to get some good shots during daylight hours!:D Whilst they undoubtedly are far less spectacular I hope they do convey somewhat of the beauty of a landscape in full autumn dress. Enjoy!

Cheers,

Remco

1. My tent mimicking the mountain Vuorje:) after a cold night which resulted in some ice forming in the small kettle in front. (What is rattling around in there, I wondered when I picked it up.)

2. The 'electrical fence'. Local reindeer herders repurposed these old electrical poles. It is a bit of rough fit, but it works.

3. Two photo panorama at a river crossing. My boots where just hight enough to keep the water out.

4. Close up of the rocks on the hillside in the picture above.

5. If the weather wasn't good there was fog and lots of it. But it does at to the atmosphere of the place.

6. Foggy clouds over the land

7. From afar the same mountains you can see in the third photo. A two photo stack to increase the depth of field a bit.

8. Lunch break during the last day of hiking.

One that PF members Jacquot and Mole will recognize--Porter's Creek in the GSMNP. It's one of the lovelier flows I've been on (which is saying a lot) so it was nice to explore quickly without a fly rod in my hand. Still learning my P 67 kit-- for instance, that the 55/4 vignettes a bit with the CPL/hood arrangement I'm using--but otherwise I remain a big fan of Acros.:)

A few more experiments with Acros 100... I'm still getting a feel for what the B/W approach gives me in this hardscrabble landscape--subject isolation remains a challenge!:)

Landscape K-1 does Northern Lights

Got lucky in Northern Norway on a 7 day's hike with lots of Northern Lights in the sky. It was my first time so late in the year and it was freezing a little bit at night. The last part of the trip I stayed in a mountain cabin but most nights I was glad I bought a better sleeping bag with only some tent fabric between me and the weather.

Cheers,

Remco

People Radioactive not sure if 50 or 55

Check this out. This is the manual radioactive lens. I wear bifocal contacts so I have a lot of trouble focusing exactly. It could be even sharper. I removed the slight yellow tint.

Does anyone know what is the kind of lamp to use to remove the yellow? I almost got it all out but I broke the bulb and now I forget. Thanks.

This will be the magnetic calendar pic this year.

Travel Hiking Mount Etna

Mount Etna is more than just Europe's highest Vulcano ... it is an impressive mountain area with multiple craters as a result of all the eruptions during a long history.
Some of the shots may give you a feeling for the vast lave fields.

The jeeps you can see in this shot take you up to an elevation of nearly 3000 m. The drive over lava fields is quite impressive!

We had to get up early! This shot was taken before 6 am at about 2000 m elevation.

This is my very first shot taken with the K1 this week in Val d'Orcia Tuscany, using the 24-70 dfa lens. I am amazed at the dynamic range, performance and ergonomics of the camera. The 24-70 especially was a surprise to me after hearing mixed reviews, the only downside being its AF performance in low light situations. I would appreciate any comments and feedback about the image. Hope you enjoy!

Nature Some foxes at work this weekend

Was on days this weekend at work so I brought the K-3 with my Sigma 150-500 hoping to get some pictures of the white tail deer bucks fighting. Didn't see any bucks fighting it out but was able to get some shots of are foxes. They scare very easy and it's hard to ever get close enough to get decent shots of them but these are the three best I could get, the last one is from a pretty good distance away.

If the weather is decent next weekend I think I will try to go in on my day off with the K-1 and DA560 and try to set up a makeshift blind to try to get better shots.

The local Public Utility District puts out a calendar for it's customers every year and puts on a photo contest for the calendar. All the photos entered have to be taken within the county the PUD serves which is Columbia Co. My wife & family have been trying to get me to enter for the last couple years, this time I did. Submitted 10 photos (the max), 2 were among the 36 photos (9 for each season) customers were asked to vote for online in October.

This one "The Flicker's Nest" is one of the 12 that will be in the calendar, one of the Spring months.
