It is still a great camera what ever KP stands for. Ricoh must have gotten if rite the first time as we have never had a firm ware up date. If Ricoh revised the camera with an up date version it would be a great seller. Unfortunately they are going down the wrong track. Why a B&W camera just turn off the colour on your existing camera. That is my opinion. All the features of the KP are what I as an experienced armature need. "Compact, flip screen, dial in your settings, what else do you need. I would like to see bracket focusing found on another brand.

Fabulous Camera for an experienced armature. Fitted with a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 most of the time the 18-135 is generally my 2nd choice or a or an old manual 35-105 f3.5 SMC a very clear lens if you can find one get it. Would love t see Pentax re introduce an up dated version. I travel with it and have a battery grip attached. Some time I use the GPS adapter works great. I have a K5ii S as my back up but hardly used. Use the tilt screen a lot for low shots and on a tripod. The fill flash is very handy when needed. Let's hope Pentax hears our complements given to this camera and some day up dates it. All you really need is a KP.

Yes Yes Yes The KP fits my needs as a good image maker. If an up date cam my way I would consider it. It could do with a fresh firmware up date with say bracket focusing. I use the flip screen regularly for low shots or over the wind screen pic's, Still a great camera thank you Pentax

Have you tried a Pentax 35-105 f3.5 SMC A Zoom takes tack sharp pictures and it's one of my Pentax favorite lenses. It may be manual focus but the tack sharp pic's are worth it. Check out the review.

On my KP I use a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 Just a great fit not too heavy had it across Canada this past summer. Great clarity sharpness and good combination of reach. Also have a Pentax 50-300 f4.5 use for any longer reach when travelling.
Lots of other lenses but those 2 are my go both very sharp and use full.

Got my 55-300 SMC really a great lens will probably use it and my sig 17-50 as my go to lenses. However I do like the 18-135 due to it's wider aperture. Love your racing shots looks like they are about to round the next mark and getting ready for a spin launch. I can hardly wait till spring to be back on the water again. All being well.
Good luck with your PLM 55-300. I am looking forward to some outings with mine attached to my KP. Bitterly cold here today -18C very crispy.

Good Point, If HDR can be done in the camera with some variables etc then maybe they could achieve the same but with focus bracketing just a thought.

I have a KP it is all I need. However I attended a virtual seminar and the narrator talked about focus bracketing and showed some great images both in Macro (insect in focus from front to back) and Land scape with full focus from front to back, Can't get the same result with depth of field bracketing or EV bracketing. Has anyone a work around probably layering 3-6 images with varying focal length from a tripod mount then stacking in post. Is this something we could ask Pentax to develop as a soft wear feature like Olympus has in their camera? Could be in camera process such as HDR, If reasonable I would pay for this feature.
Any other comments?

Hello Fellow Pentax Shooters,
Looking to purchase a HD DA 55-300 4.5-6.3 DE PLM WR Lens
Called 2 Canadian Distributors (Henry's & Downtown Camera)
Down Town will call me back with price Delivery didn't have the Lens Listed.
Henry's after some searching found the lens but couldn't give price or availability. Only way to order it was to come into one of their stores to order it. (2hrs away). Also said Richo/Pentax is a bad probably non existent company. Don't service their products unless sent to New York. I said I was happy shooting with my KP just thought I would treat myself to this Lens. Then he said it was probably discontinued since it was not in his catalogue. He didn't want to service me. Checked with Amazon & they list it can have it for about $475 in a week. Why can't we have good representative from Richo/Pentax with our dealers. What is with this Pentax company?
We should all give them a bit of a shake as Sony, Olympus, Cannon & Nikon are leaps ahead in advertising, service, dealer knowledge and incentives.
Loyal but frustrated

Hi,
I've been using the wonderful KP for about 18 months have a dozen lenses latest is a 25 year old 35-105 SMC A Zoom with manual focus. Most used lens is a Sigma 17-50 f2.8 The KP adapts to all situations for a good amateur image maker. You really only need to have a KP to capture great images. Took the attached at a local water falls the other day. I use a battery grip just makes the camera feel better with the large grip. I haven't used my K5IIs since I picked up the KP.

A friend gave me his old film Pentax "Super Program" camera and lens. The lens is great takes great images. The lens is a Pentax 35-105 manual focus SMC A Zoom f3.5 I checked it out on forum all great reviews. After a bit of researching the KP Yvon Bourque Manual I worked out the settings. Took a series of photos in the yard turns out to be a great lens: TTL metering works well the spot meter light and beep are pretty accurate. Just another reason you only need a KP what a great camera and this lens is a welcome addition to my kit. After getting use to manual focusing I was able to capture a little wren at his little house. Attached are the results of a couple of pic's the flower is f13 1/125 800 using the Macro for a close up shot not cropped just resized to a screen pic.. The House Wren was shot at f/13 1/60 800 It's a cloudy rainy day so the light is pretty flat but the sun came out for a couple of minuets. I cropped it about 30% and resized it.

Hi Pentaxicans,
I just read a Photography Life article regarding the DSLR industry you may be interested in it.
It is a comparison of the smartphone photographer and DSLR photographer. Here is the link: photographylife.com look for "How Camera companies can survive the Smartphone".
Still find the KP a fantastic choice for a enthusiastic image maker.
Good to see the enthusiasm being generated by the Pentaxicans out there.
Attached are 2 images 1 standard 1/6s f7.1 50mm (Sigma) 200 iso the second shot same image but edited in the KP as a watercolour.

Hi fellow KP shooters,
I have read some of the requests for a new DSLR from Pentax and say why do we need a new camera body.
We have a great camera body The KP it does everything for me and then some. I have been shooting with it for a year it has replaced my K5iis. I classify myself as a good amateur image maker.
The KP can be had for great price. If you equip yourself with a few good lenses an amateur can make great images.
I would be happy if Pentax only up dated the firm wear now and again to bring out more of the potential of the camera. Keep it simple just look at what the new camera companies have done with their camera Iphone, Samsung, Huawei to name some of the competition we are seeing with the camera phones. The images produced on some of these cameras are sensational without any post production. Take a pic and your friends and family see the pic in seconds from any where on their I phone screens. (Mind boggling when you think about it)
How many pictures do we actually enlarge to over an 8 1/2 x 11? Most of the images we share are via social media any way.
Way to go Pentax thank you for a great camera and lenses. Wish you would be more proactive in your marketing, You have a great product but nobody knows about it, most of the camera stores that are left don't carry it but push the customer to other brands. The Pentax reps seem to have been phased out. The attached image was created at midnight f18 17mm (Sigma 17-50 lens) 30s 800 ISO used by the local TV station for there weather pic of the day. I have down sized it from the hi-res image.
Lots of fun what else do you need.:)

Is there a dual hot shoe bracket like ones offered for cannon and nikon? I want to mount a fill flash speed light with my O-GPS1 unit. An any one tell me if the canon or nikon bracket is suitable?
