@Rio: Fair points..

I do the in-camera PP when I find the time at home, and I use rechargable batteries, so those are not an issue for me.

I'll throw in my reasons for using it :p
* Fast/fun results
* You can get interesting results from crappy photos
* I don't want to pirate/buy "professional" PP software
* It's sometimes easier to do post processing in-camera than in GIMP (which I use from time to time). Depends on what I want to do with the photo.

I mostly shoot in RAW as well. I use the Pentax software to develop (if that is the correct term) the pictures I'm happy with.

Regarding gallery of Digital Filter photos, I found a group on flickr that's dedicated to Pentax digital filters. Looking at the number of members, it looks like Digital Filters isn't getting a lot of attention from Pentax owners.

I did a search, and I couldn't find any threads about in camera processing (Digital Filter) with Pentax K-x. I would be interested to see what other people have done with this feature.

I uploaded a batch to flickr, if anyone's interested in what you can do with it. The photos might be crap (I really should spend more time with my camera), but at least you can get a feel for what you can achieve.

So.. If anyone's experimented with this feature, I'd love to see some shots :)

So.. To be able to reach the insane resolutions we are imagining, you'd have to throw the lens out of the equation..

I've forgotten most of my high school physics, but maybe you'd know this.

If in the future, you could make an imaging sensor of a material that could flex/morph into a parabolic shape, would this create an effect similar to refraction? Flat equals no zoom, curve the sensor inwards to zoom in and outwards to get wide angle shots.

Lens resolution is determined by size, but with better materials, you'd get better resolution in a smaller size, or am I way off on this..?

I would think the hardest bit technology wise would be finding a material for the lens that would be clear enough to capture all that detail.

I would think the limiting factor would be the "resolution" of the lens. I don't think regular glass is clear enough for cropping to bacteria-level. Not sure if there are any materials today that are that clear..?
