wide open.
My Nex adapter does not have iris, but there are other mounts that have.
18mm should be the best, then 70mm, 50mm and 24mm.
Even 24mm is very usable.

Thanks Adam. I read many reviews about it, but decided to give it a try anyway.
I am using it with A7r. As you see, edges and corners are really good.

and 28mm/24mm F1.4.
The only 28mm f1.4 is Leica and old Nikon. Why stop here?

I can confirm this too. DA*200 is too slow. I have not tried other pentax lenses. Sigma 120-400 also not very fast.

I cant see any comment on Tamron SP 70-150/2.8 soft focus.
I have this lens. It is razor sharp when used with no soft focus, one of the best zooms. Use with Pentax A adapter, or any mount you want.
Soft focus is challenging. The lens has different soft characters for
- distance
- zoom setting
- aperture setting
- soft focus setting
Finding the right balance among these 4 dimensions was not easy, but I had, and still have, a lot of fun when I use the lens.
Here are some old samples: Tamron 70-150 f2.8 soft focus |

It's not about the gear or the brand. It's about how the photographer captures the moments.
K5 is a great body. Just need to take more pictures.

I have 6-7 different fast 50mm f1.2 - f1.1. All of them glow at wide open, and still slightly glow at f1.4. All depends on the light condition.
If you want perfect f1.4, get a Summilux 50/1.4 Asph (and a body to use it).
A50/1.2 is best the Pentax 50mm at f1.2, then K version. With correct light condition, there is no different between them.
f1.2 is challenging. I am sure you will have a lot of fun with it. It took me years to use it correctly :-)

I think mine might be a defect copy as well. It is super sharp at f1.2 :-)

Answer to your question: Yes.
I have tested a few 400mm primes, and the outcomes are good. My tests are done with sony a7r and pentax. Pentax bodies has SR, that also helps in 300mm range. Crop sensors vs full frame, but I got the answer you asked.
I have 2 copies of Tokina 400/5.6 (canon, and OM), nikon ais ED-IF 400/5.6. These are FF lenses, and cost less than the pentax. The Nikon might be not so cheap, while the Tokina might be found for less. The pentax is a zoom lens, and covers more in focals, if you can shoot with it's sweet spots.
