I shot with manual focus prime lenses only for 14 years, back when they were only called lenses. I still use manual focus primes on my Hasselblad. With my Pentax I have 4 AF and I MF prime lenses. If I was in your place I would start with the DA 35 2.4. It is a good lens, inexpensive and is a normal focal length for your camera. With MF to start you are testing out if you like using primes at the same time you are seeing if you like to manual focus. Try the 35 2.4 and if you like primes pick up a manual focus 28 or 50 as they are cheap. After that look t the guys with hundreds of lenses and decide if you want to join them in their insanity.

Quality point and shoot cameras have not been cheap for a few years now. Even middle range film p&s have gone up drastically in price. Even slr have gone from being given away with difficulty finding takers to selling for several hundred dollars.
Film camera value has changed dramitically in the last five ir ten years. Especially fully manual and the totally loaded.

You are very lucky. In Medicine Har the clisest place is a three hour drive to Calgary for E6 or 120. For C41 135 there is always London Drugs. For black and white there is my attic ( often too hot even with its own ac). I deveoped 5 sheets of 4X5, a sheet of whole plate and two rolls of 120. No blood involved.

Did not Pentax, Canon, Nikin and the resr totally abandon their customers when they stopped making film cameras? Did Pentax not totally abandon their customers when they started makibg their full frame K1 instead of deveoping more ABS lenese and tgen already abandoned those K1_customers ehen developing the K3iii?
I am sorry but when you bought your K1 you bought an existing product nit a committment from the company to develop only products for that particular model. Why a committment to rhe K1 abd not the K01,he Q or the 67?
Consider yourself lucky that you are not a Fuji camera user. Think of how much the X100 and other serieses of Fuji cameras were delayed by Fuji creating a brand new emulsion to duplicate their recently discontinued Acros 100 film. But there now exists Acros 100 II as well as new Fuji cameras. It was not the end if civilization. And development of a new Pentax film camera having a delay for a new K1 will peobably more in the range of hours or a day rather than months, years or forever.
And as far as film being obsolete or useless, I can go out and purchase brand new equipment to make wetplate photographs, a method thar had been replaced by dry plate a mere 150 years ago.
Hope you get your desperately needed new K1 model however how ling after it is released will you be clamering for its replacement? But I am serious about hoping you do get that new camera. I do not need or want it however new products have never been totally about me.

That is great that not inly did yoy get tour dream kit but Wheatfield gets to know his KX is now in loving hands and will be used as it should be.
Personally I have never had the dream of a LX but I am more than happy when I finally got a MX ( off this forum as well). Butbthen any desire for modular is satisfied with my Hasselblad 500 C/M. I have also never wanted a Lecia.
Enjoy your new camera.

Eighty percent of the time I go out to do photography it is only with film cameras.
Usualy it is with medium formar cameras or a pinhole or maybe large format cameras.
Even though my digital camera is a K5iis,I do not mind of Pentax is designing new lenses that I cannot use on it or creating brand new models. I know thar no company makes only products for me.
If you currently do not shoot film then Pentax cannot make a new film camera for you. It is highly unlikely that I would want a new camera to replace my MX either. But maybe others will want one.

The vasf majority of my negatives are black and white and I do not scan them. That is what the darkroom is for.
My parents never saved any negatives. They also didnt really take any photos until us kids were adults so never learnt that habit from them.

Welcome from eastern Alberta. I sort of have the opposite route from you Spotmatic to SF1n to MZ5n to MX. And the K5iis is my second and probably my last digital SLR for me and I shot justabout anything that does not have people in it.
Love Vancouver Island and hope you find this forum worthwhile.

Fifteen years ago I was given a 5X7 enlarger and bought a 4X5 one for thirty dollars. When I went to buy a darkroom sink my wife offered the lady a low amoubtvwhich she accepted on the conditiob that we take the rest of her darkroom fot that price. I also got about twentfive hundred dollars pfvenlarging lenses from a formercstudio for free.
These free or dirt cheap darkroom gear are not readiky available as they are all gone and now have some value.
It seems like those who do not shoot film haveva disconnect to the state of analogue photography in todays world and are basing their opinions on what was happening ten or more years ago.
Personally I cannot see Pentax making an all mecanical camera like a MX because onlt a few if the current lenses like the FA,limiteds would work on it. It would have to be able to use the DFA lenses to make sense. I imagine thecresearchers at Pentax know the potential market better than most film or digital only posters on this forum.
Long live Pentax.

Quit impressive. In 2021 I had planned on shooting a roll in my old cameras, onw camera per month. However in late 2021 had a heart attack and openheart surgery so spent muchbif my free time in 2022 walking working my way up from barely doing one block to doing over 13km non stop.
Thw OP has inspired me to actually so that oroject in 2023. I also have a vest pocket (mine from 1927), a Hawkeye, a tourist 120 and one otner. This year there was a Kodak stereo camera at Value Village we bought and will try it out as the first camera next year.
Forgot to mention that this year I also processed 66 rolls of 120 from a 2021 trip and shot about 4000 images on my K5iis as we went to Antartica. I will use this sub forum in 2023_to post my project and use this thread as the needed motivation and impuness to actualky do it. Thanks

I do not thnk that Pentax will make a new film cameea like that Kodak or a Leica or a Holga or Logmorgraphy or a wooden pinhole or large format like so many others do right now.
Many have answered you the why already but you only are asking that all Pentax products be exactly what you personally want.
Film is not dead. Perhaps your interest in film or Pentax is dead but we are nit all you (thankfully we are individuals)

Not heavy rain often more like every mists. I was in both last fall. In the Fareos you do need a wide angle lens much more than a long one.

You are sounding extremely pesstimistic. Are you sure Nikon or even Sony are goung to exist in the future? And
Curious if Pentax 67 lenses sell for 10% of new prices, i know that Hasselblad V series lenses (Zeiss) sell for 25 to 50% of their later list prices.
Sounds like for your mental comfort you should swap systems. And soon.

Having shot and own Spotmatics, K1000, MX, SF1n, MZ5n and MZ7. I think only cameras like the MZ5n would be a suitable model for a retro digital camera. Digital cameras are too heavy to not have a handle and the SF models were too ugly.
But I definitely would not be in the market for a retro digital camera. I still shoot film and I use my Hasselblad more often than my K5IIs plus have MX and Rolleichord if I want something that looks old.
If Pentax was to produce one they should be like the Fuji X100 in not letting the retro looks be in the way of being a good camera to use.
