Good as I have a Kodak that takes 116 and another that takes 616. Not exactly film for compacts though 😂.

Quality point and shoot cameras have not been cheap for a few years now. Even middle range film p&s have gone up drastically in price. Even slr have gone from being given away with difficulty finding takers to selling for several hundred dollars.

Film camera value has changed dramitically in the last five ir ten years. Especially fully manual and the totally loaded.

A film slr made by Pentax needs to be able to use Pentax lenses. Even the last Canon film camera could not use the earlier Canon mount.

There is no universal mount. Pentax and Nikon lens rotate in the opposite direction.

I purchased my K01 used from the marketplace and had the seller ship it firectly to the guy who converts cameras to IR for me. As a second but specialized camera the K01 works great for me. Wjwn the sun is too bright to see the viewfinder (most days in Medicine Hat) I just think the lack of seeing what I am shooting is no different to me then when I am using my pinhole cameras or some of the old box cameras with defective viewfinders. But with IR I normally shoot wide and framing is not as important as for wildlife, action or portrait photography.

The lack if an optional viewfinder was a great mistake by Pentax in my opinion. The only major one they made other thsn perhaps not making a very compact wide angle lens tjat could not be used on any of their other cameras.

If they ever make a K02 it will have nothing in common with the 01 other than maybe no mirror.

Baby Brownie Special. 127 film is both scarce and expensive. I am going to start rolling my one using strips from 14X17 Xray film that gives me just a little over half a roll for about 60 cents per roll.

I have had a Baby Brownie Special for tfour decaded and a plain Baby Brownie for around seven years

You are very lucky. In Medicine Har the clisest place is a three hour drive to Calgary for E6 or 120. For C41 135 there is always London Drugs. For black and white there is my attic ( often too hot even with its own ac). I deveoped 5 sheets of 4X5, a sheet of whole plate and two rolls of 120. No blood involved.

That is great that not inly did yoy get tour dream kit but Wheatfield gets to know his KX is now in loving hands and will be used as it should be.

Personally I have never had the dream of a LX but I am more than happy when I finally got a MX ( off this forum as well). Butbthen any desire for modular is satisfied with my Hasselblad 500 C/M. I have also never wanted a Lecia.

Enjoy your new camera.

Did not Pentax, Canon, Nikin and the resr totally abandon their customers when they stopped making film cameras? Did Pentax not totally abandon their customers when they started makibg their full frame K1 instead of deveoping more ABS lenese and tgen already abandoned those K1_customers ehen developing the K3iii?

I am sorry but when you bought your K1 you bought an existing product nit a committment from the company to develop only products for that particular model. Why a committment to rhe K1 abd not the K01,he Q or the 67?

Consider yourself lucky that you are not a Fuji camera user. Think of how much the X100 and other serieses of Fuji cameras were delayed by Fuji creating a brand new emulsion to duplicate their recently discontinued Acros 100 film. But there now exists Acros 100 II as well as new Fuji cameras. It was not the end if civilization. And development of a new Pentax film camera having a delay for a new K1 will peobably more in the range of hours or a day rather than months, years or forever.

And as far as film being obsolete or useless, I can go out and purchase brand new equipment to make wetplate photographs, a method thar had been replaced by dry plate a mere 150 years ago.

Hope you get your desperately needed new K1 model however how ling after it is released will you be clamering for its replacement? But I am serious about hoping you do get that new camera. I do not need or want it however new products have never been totally about me.

Eighty percent of the time I go out to do photography it is only with film cameras.
Usualy it is with medium formar cameras or a pinhole or maybe large format cameras.

Even though my digital camera is a K5iis,I do not mind of Pentax is designing new lenses that I cannot use on it or creating brand new models. I know thar no company makes only products for me.

If you currently do not shoot film then Pentax cannot make a new film camera for you. It is highly unlikely that I would want a new camera to replace my MX either. But maybe others will want one.

Modern 35mm Film Camera with Square Frame

I believe that a square format 35mm camera is on kickstarter called tje Alfie. It has either three or four lens. Standard is chap simoleplastic lens, a pinhole and a zoneplate and the deluxe adds a lens made of glass. There also a couple if square format pinhole cameras out there.I

I need to check as I might have a 24X24 negative carrier for my one enlarger

cannot see it for a major manufacturer to do it

My rotation is normally beteeen a 4X5, a Hasselblad 500C\M, a Roleichord Vb and a Nettar 6X6. For 135it is my MX or one of my wife's lomography camerasor my Kellogs snap crackle and pop shown on my avatar. Theviewfinder in that is the clearest of all my cameras as it is just a hole in the body.

Any camera that uses leaf shutters is pretty close to silence. My Rolleichord and Nettar are almost silent. And several pinhole cameras are only as noisy as yoy are taking off the lens cap. My MX is relatively quiet compared to my Hasselblad 500 CM.

As someone who sta rted with a Spotmatic F then onto a SFXn then a few MZ series and now a MX I do hot see the autowibd or manual wind a big issue. Otherthan my first and last Pentax film cameras did not need a battery to function. Feelin of quality is more important ib my view for a new film camera. But maybe I am spoilt by also havibg a Rollerchord a nd a Hasselblad 500 CM but i do also have Holgas and Dianas.

The vasf majority of my negatives are black and white and I do not scan them. That is what the darkroom is for.

My parents never saved any negatives. They also didnt really take any photos until us kids were adults so never learnt that habit from them.
