Canon 20D
Thanks. I tried that, but the only ambient light was coming from from two little lights with gells and 2 neon strips. If there had have been more of it to get, i would have tried so i went with what i had.

A while back i stumbled across his little how to vids on bar and night club photography. I enjoyed them then and last night i got to try out some of what i learned.
Yesterday morning i had a friend show up to invite me to her 18th and because i didnt feel like drinking, i took the camera along with me. Had the 20D, 10-20 and a 430ex on an off shoe cord. I found 10mm was way too wide so around 14mm worked nicely, wished there had been a bit more ambient lighting but it was a back yard thing.
I was quite happy with what i came away with and without Codiacs videos, i wouldnt have known where to even start.
Anyways, here are some i got.
Thanks again for your how to's

Well the press release says that when the lenses are used on cameras that dont support SDM, you dont get AF. So i think they have finally pulled apart enough SDM lenses to be confident enough to release their own.

I had heard that it would be a touch under $2000 with the new 18-55 and a bit over $1600 body only. Either way, i wont be buying one. Last thing i need is bigger file sizes and it doesnt really do any more for me than what the k10 already does.

Back a little while ago from the Murarrie Criterium for this mornings cycling crits and hand cycling time trials. A little more pleased with this weeks results. Was a shame that the sun kept disappearing just as i got set for it being out and vice versa.
All shot with a pentax k10D and sigma 70-300 APO. All shot in jpeg.

I can testify that. I made a few small adjustments to the in camera jpeg settings and got quite nice results. I even had comments from a canon shooter asking if i had shot in RAW and converted after they saw how sharp and punchy they were.
But back to the original topic, the k20D doesnt really do anything more for me that i need that the k10 doesnt already do. I wish they had fixed a few things and added a few more. In the end, i wont buy the camera, big deal. Ill wait until the next one comes out and see what that does over the k10.
Oh and also, from a price and feature point, it doesnt look all that competitive any more (wont go into any more detail unless someone wants me to).

Well it would certainly make sense with photokina being in August and canon supposed to be announcing the 5D successor then too. Will be interesting to see if pentax actually does some changes that interest me with this next camera Note: pentax, i will gladly be a beta tester heh |

As long as they still offered an f4 version as well, like canons 70-200 range. Would be a good move as far as im concerned, they would make money from people who want a quality fixed aperture zoom but dont want 2.8 or cant afford it and then from people who need it for 2.8.
Price it at around $1000 AUD for the f4 version and ~$1600 for the 2.8 and they would be okay i guess.

From watching the video on youtube from pentax about the k20D, it doesnt look to be all that different from the screen in the k10d at the moment (apart from physical size of course)

Even 4 would have been too slow, im too used to the 5fps on the 20D. Although, it would have been good if we could have gotten 8fps using a 6mp image :hmm:

Okay, for once, you have a bit of a point (with me anyway). I stopped coming here for a while and only came back after the announcement because i was slightly sick of all the rumor posts and the teasers from people that were under NDAs (the "I know something you dont know" posts drove me up the wall).
But here is where you lose me. I had gotten in the habit of ignoring your threads and couldnt be happier so i dont know why i even opened this one. Would the same of what you just said apply to your "tests" of cameras you dont even own or have used for more than an hour? I think a lot of people would agree with me that those threads are just a waste of readers valuable time.
Anyway, back to ignoring your posts. I think my ignore list needs its first member...

Its actually the same nob from the samsung GX-10 (and now of course, the GX-20)
I noticed it yesterday when reading over things on the announcement and looking at the photos.

A separate AF button and the ability to have two batteries in the grip sure would be nice.

Thanks.
The main problem i was having was the camera not taking the photo when i hit the shutter button for a burst when using AF-C. It would focus on and then track the subject fine for the first shot and then it would focus and refocus before taking another and i was getting about 1 frame per second if i was lucky.

Thanks everyone :D
Just thought i would add that they were all shot in JPEG and not RAW. Was impressed after reading nothing but negatives about that for so long.

Compared to the canon and the sigma versions, its already behind in my books. No full time manual focus and USM/HSM equivalent. Although, i guess for the price, it doesnt matter too much...
