PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Pentax K5-II, with KatzEye installed, Markins plate Asking Price
600.00 USD Item Location
Iowa (United States) Item Description
I'd like to sell my Pentax K5-II. It's in excellent condition. Works perfectly and has no marks or scratches. I just checked the shutter actuation count and it's at 2,060. I sent it to KatzEye last year to install a new split prism focusing screen. They did the installation and calibrated it. Manual focus is spot on. Auto focus is spot on. It's a real joy to use with all lenses. The camera will come with original battery, charger, body cap, box and literature, original focusing screen (in a little plastic case), KatzEye focusing screen (installed), and a Markins plate (Arca-Swiss style). Handstrap shown is NOT included.
I'd like $600, which includes Conus shipping (USPS Priority mail insured) and paypal. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

You should email Rachael at Katzeye and see what she says. She's extremely helpful and has seen it all.

The D700/D3 were 12mp and were wildly popular. I would easily take range and high ISO over more pixels. If Pentax made a FF DSLR at 12mp I would buy it. At 36mp, I would probably not. 12-16 is all I want

Pentax 31mm Limited, black Asking Price
925.00 USD Item Location
Iowa (United States) Item Description
I bought this new from B&H during their Black Friday sale. The first one I received from B&H seemed soft on one side to me, so I sent it back for a replacement. This is the replacement, which seems perfect to me. It's not a focal length that I use often. I've had it out of the pouch and on my camera maybe twenty times since I bought it. Everything about it is still like new. No marks anywhere, body, cap, or glass. I will include the original B&H receipt and the box it came in. Comes with box, pouch, caps, paperwork. I'm selling because I need money for taxes. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

you can say that again.
Your 31mm will take a 58mm filter. The 60-250 will take a 67mm filter. I'd personally use a protective filter on the 31mm as it's quite exposed with the built in hood the way it is.

I've dry mounted many modern method prints. Gotta be careful with the tack iron. It's easy to put marks/dents on the print. It's a great way to mount them though. I like to leave some space between the edge of my print and the overmat. Dry mounting looks best for this application in my opinion. If you are covering the edges of the print with the overmat, then lots of other methods might work nicely as well.

If you send your camera to Katzeye, they'll install the focusing screen and calibrate your manual focus. It will be right on when you get it back. This will cost about the same as a K-01. I absolutely love the katzeye in my K-5.

I loved the tilt screen on the Olympus E-M5 when I owned it. I would love to have one on my K-5. I found it especially useful on the tripod.

As stated above, if it's purely cosmetic and the camera functions 100% to your liking, I'd keep it. Otherwise return it for a replacement. Life is easier when we don't sweat the small stuff. Actually, I think it was George Carlin who said it best "Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things".

Maybe look into the Canon S type (at least I think that's what it's called) focusing screen. It sounds like what you're looking for. Focusing Screen |

Yes, they use shims if required to obtain perfect manual focus calibration. I believe they will ship your screen with shims if you require them. They do not touch the autofocus system or the sensor.

I had a Katzeye in my K20D when I owned it. I've just recently purchased a K5II and sent it to Katzeye to have them install a focusing screen for me. Part of their installation service is a manual focus calibration. It came back to me with perfect manual focus calibration. It is a joy to use with manual focus lenses now.

That's a good question and I don't know the answer. I've always assumed that the autofocus motor made adjustments to compensate and not the sensor.
Maybe you can use shims under your focusing screen to help calibrate your manual focus?

Kodak Medalist II. It's super heavy and bulky. You have to roll your own 620 from 120, unless you have it converted. But that lens, holy cow! Might be the best lens I've ever used. Huge beautiful 6x9 negs.
