On the picture below, near the tree on the middle-right of the shot there's a red point. I wondered if this was lens flare?
A further question would be, do we cut out lens flare when possible, or leave it in as an authentic artefact?
I was using a K2000 with the kit 18-55mm lens at sunset.
Sorry if these are all obvious questions, I'm still a noob (nearly 2 whole months with this camera!)

This is something I was going to try with my new beastie, which is a K2000. Personally, I was going to try setting up with the tripod, go to bulb and see if the tripod holds stedy enough to take the picture I would like.
If that fails, I might try purchasing the remote control, to eliminate any wobble that my contact with the camera during exposure might create.
I, too, would be grateful for a little advice from the more experienced members of the forum. Mind you, being a noob is turning into quite a spirit of adventure for me.
Good luck with your star trails!

The key to getting the beastie to work was in the settings. Allowing manual settings did the trick.

Thank you for your help. I'll look at the beastie again in the morning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong area.
Today I got through the post a teleconverter. I thought it might be a useful little beastie before I start thinking about splashing out more big cash for lenses.
I fitted it to my K2000 and one of the kit lenses, set the dial to manual and... nothing!
In the viewfinder and on the LCD, I get a flashing "F - - -" notification. If I try to use any other setting, it seems to default to AV.
Has anyone got any idea what I might be doing incorrectly and how I might remedy it?
Thanks in advance!

I recently bought the K2000 kit as a complete newbie to anything that wasn't a stick-it-in-yer-pocket tiny thing. The lenses that came with the K2000 give me so much more control and creative umph than a tiny Kodak point-and shoot.
I dare say that, some time, I'll expand my lens' repertoire, but it's at the mercy of the economy at the moment. At least with a K-mount, a fair few older lenses should be useable, should I find any going cheap.

Just joined the forum, so I thought I'd say "hi".
I've just upgraded from a little point-and-shoot Kodak to a Pentax K2000. I'm a complete noob to this whole SLR/DSLR thing, so please excuse any questions I might have that may seem outright daft.
Cheers, folks!
