Also have you tried adjusting AF fine tuning (in menus)? Even though manual focusing this will adjust the in focus indication.

Well done!
I have spent nearly no time on Flickr over the last year (and not very much photography for that matter) so my stats look pretty poor. However I did click over 2 million total views!

The K-1 does not have dust detection but in any case I have found the dust detection on my previous K-5 / K-x to be pretty useless (has to be really bad dust to even show up).
I have found the K-1 dust removal system to be pretty good in general and have only had to do a wet clean a couple of times (most of the time a blower does the trick). This is in stark contrast to me K-5 where I had to wet clean it every 6 months (assuming I wasn't being too fussy and would live with a small amount of dust).
That said several times I have had some dust appear on my K-1 sensor after using my DFA 28-105 (it tends to pump some air in / out of the camera unfortunately). Fortunately I mostly shoot with my primes.

Mine is "usable" in the corners at f11, but not very sharp.

Hows the lens mount on the camera? Are there any loose screws or is not perfectly flush? Small mount variations (or sensor alignment for that matter) make a huge difference to focal plane for all lenses. Can you try your lens on another Pentax camera body?

Welcome! Nice background. I'm sure you will enjoy the K-3 monochrome. I'm tempted myself as, while I still shoot quite a bit of colour, I enjoy shooting black and white and would like to shoot more.

Well despite a number of gloomy Pentax predictions published on DPR, Pentax has outlasted DPR.
Its a pity in many ways, although I always thought the association with Amazon had the potential for product placement biases (only internal to DPR will they know for sure if that was the case or not).

Don't buy it because it RUINS most of your other lenses!
Since getting mine, my other wide angles don't seem to perform quite as well as I remember ;-)

HD DFA 21 f2.4 Limited currently and love it!
Previously used / tried:
* Sigma EX 24 f1.8 - Got some pretty good shots with it but my copy is somewhat decentered (as is common it seems with these lenses) and AF was sometimes a bit hit and miss
* Samyang 14mm f2.8 - unfortunately the copy I got was decentered to the point that it was no use to me. I returned it with plenty of sample photos proving the defect and the manufacturer said it was "to spec", but eventually got my money back - put off trying again though.
* Pentax FA-J 18-35 f4-5.6 - Again got some pretty good shots with it but not that sharp in the corners / edges of the frame, and its a relatively slow lens.
* Pentax FA* 24 f2 - Seems like a lens people love or hate but I like mine. Many good shots with it. With wider apertures the edge and corner sharpness are not great but I found overall it to be quite usable. However I started craving something a bit wider and more modern! Still can't bring my self to sell it though.

I have both the DA-70 and FA-77 and I think both are great lenses.
I use the DA-70 in my travel light kit (K-01, DA 15, DA 40 and DA 70) and has often pulled off nice images. But it really depends on what you want to shoot of course.

The DFA 28-105 focuses pretty nicely. The only modern lens I have to compare (that doesn't have screw drive that is), is the HD DFA 21 f2.4. The DFA21 makes a similar noise but is noticeably quicker than the DFA 28-105 and at least as accurate (and probably a bit better).

I had a 20mm f1.8 Sigma on my K-1 (now lucky to have HDFA 21 f2.4) and it can be challenging. For a start mine was a bit decentered (not uncommon for these lenses it seems) which really shows up on full frame (and not bad on crop). Also I always found AF to be a bit patchy. I had carefully calibrated it with a focus chart (ideally you need a bigger print for UW), but sometimes I just couldn't nail focus (where as the HDFA 21 seems pretty reliable - which it should be given the price!).
It really helps if you stop down a little, even f2.8 is a lot easier to work with, and when focusing on close + moving subjects I would stop down more (ideally at least f5.6) and set my ISO higher. I found I got great results from my K-1 up to about ISO 3200 (and sometimes more with extra post processing).

Must admit I'm quite curious about peoples experience doing this. In theory without an RGB filter you could gain more resolution and more light sensitivity (don't have a colour filter for each pixel). The problem with the extra resolution is it depends on camera and post processing software to extract extra resolution, so I suspect people are not getting extra resolution but instead do it for the extra sensitivity but I'm sure someone who has done it will comment!
