There's not a human on this planet I trust, not even my own parents.
I trust my dog though. If only he wouldn't try to lick my face after he finishes licking his butt.

Playing around some more with grunge. Probably not most peoples cup 'o tea, but something I have a strange interest in. |

That's the correct size actually. The effective resolution is 14,501,888. Pentax is just being a bit liberal with their rounding.

I would own a K-7 right now if my computer hadn't have decided to implode upon itself two days before I was going to order it. Now I have to start over saving again. I am a very sad Panda. :(

Yes, there are fewer steps in the gradiation which causes a risk of posterization when using wide gamut spaces in 8-bit mode. I use ProPhoto and anybody who uses ProPhoto will tell you don't even think about trying to use it in 8-bit. You run the risk of absolutely wrecking your image once you start pushing it around in an image editor. Thankfully Photoshop has really good 16-bit editing support. GIMP users are SOL, being stuck with 8-bit only.

I refuse to buy Pentax lenses because of SDM. It's a joke. It's not really USM. It's basically taking the screwdrive motor out of the body and stuffing it in the lens. Except the screw drive is more reliable, and in some cases, faster. I'll be buying Sigma HSM lenses for my new K-7, because Sigma uses true ring-type USM.
When Pentax gives us ring-type USM, I'll consider their lenses. Right now? The only Pentax lenses I'd consider are the Limiteds. I will not purchase a DA* lens.

It's a racist sterotype in the US. It's not the only foodstuff in that group either. Grape/Orange Soda, Watermelon, and Kool-aid just to name a few.
Most of it is dumb though. Just people grasping for straws just so they can play the Race Card. Which is exactly what I see this as.
And this thread makes me want to post a Dave Chapelle video (NSFW): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ4B7G8Rw3Q |

1) Real USM. SDM is a phony wannabe.
2) Tethering support
3) 1/250 flash sync speed
But primarily #1. If it isn't ring-type, it shouldn't exist. We have the screw drive, so this SDM micro-motor trash shouldn't have ever been considered.

Honestly, does anybody feel the PP is too much? I like it, but it looks a little too "fake" to me. |

I have a 50mm, 100mm, and 180mm.
The 100mm is a good balance between the other two in working distance, size and weight, and hand holdability. I keep mine in my bag and carry it everwhere with me in case I need a macro lens. You just can't go wrong with a 100mm Macro, IMO.

I never buy from the Pentax store because the prices are so out of whack.
B&H, Adorama, and Newegg for me.

Don't forget about Newegg. They're the end-all computer hardware source, but everybody forgets about them when it comes to camera equipment. They don't have the stuff real camera stores have, but the selection is fairly decent. They're actually selling the K7 right now with a free bag.

I've read the forums for some time, but only now decided to sign up. Been looking for a more active forum, since the one I've been part of for years has really slowed down a lot. I've also been out of photography for awhile, and I'm kinda trying to "start over" so to speak. Building a new website, blog, and trying to find a new style.
I currently shoot with an *ist DS, but soon intend to upgrade to a K-7. I traditionally shoot macros and still life, but am wanting to venture out into other areas like street, architectual and landscape.
Oh, and portraiture. Because I'm jealous of you portrait guys and the hot women you get to hang out with. :p
