my wish list.for a strobist dream come true
1) improvement on the accuracy of PTTL
2) To allow 3 groups light control in camera
3) To release its own PTTL HSS wireless trigger and reciever that can be used on both PTTL flashes or manual strobe.

you need to pop up the build in flash to enable the wireless pttl to work. you will see it have some blinks to transmit the info to the flash. Then flash will fire off.

seriously, i think almost everyone have a 01 lens. u just need to go up close and personal and u get equally good results.

Last weekend i was having coffee with friend who once own the k7.
he was impressed with my k30. all of sudden. he remember that there was a "method" that can boost/push the iso capabilities of the K7 and decided to see if it can be replicated into the k30.
settings used are
iso set to 6400
Custom image Natural , in the High/Low Key Adj -2 from the middle
Ev +0.5 (said to compensate the overall "brightness")
high ISO noise reduction i turn it to auto
I also turn on auto for both the highlight and shadow correction.
here is my 2 sample picture, image is straight from camera and no processing done.
iso6400 1/180 f2.8 DA40XS K30
iso6400 1/350 f2.8 DA40XS K30

you can also set the RAW/FX button to toggle the AF selector.

most of the time the culprit for slow review is slow SD cards.
i using class 6 cards so far preview had been almost instantaneous (no lens correction).
unless you are shooting continuous frames like 7FPS, the SD card speed may be the bottleneck.

FYI, Metz 48/50/58, sigma 530 series, works on my kr and k5. i done the testing myself while searching for a new flash.

Incidentally, I had started a similiar problem in a Singapore pentax user forum, not sure can I cross link here.. but I will retype my contents here to share the information with Pentaxforum users.

Title: Does your Kr/K5 work with 3rd party flash?
I had been using my 3rd party ebay OEM brand less PTTL flash on my Kx for almost 1 yr, and I have a "strange" encounter when i recently brought an Kr.
This OEM brand less PTTL flash works flawlessly on Kx and K7 at all settings (auto zoom head, sync aperture and iso. full PTTL function etc etc) and suffer no problem at all.
when the same flash is mounted on my Kr....at iso 100 200 it is still fine but any higher iso, almost every picture will be a white screen of death.....
I thought it is a flash socket problem with my Kr and went down for a chat at Emjay service center...Kevin slap on a AF360FGZ on my Kr....surprise surprise....it work fine....
Damn....so it means my brand less PTTL flash may not be so comparable to the new pentax models...
Any follow pentaxian here who own a 3rd party flash like Metz or Sigma PTTL flash, do they work on your Kr/K5??? I'm trying to gather some feedback, cos I have a event to shoot next week and I'm trying to gather some feedback, cos I have a event to shoot next week and I need a flash fast.....
In summary the response from Singapore user reported:
Flash made by sigma 530 Super, metz 48/58 and of course original pentax flash work fine with Kr/K5.
I myself had brought a Metz 50 and it work fine.

on a side note, I also brought a used AF200T and managed use it in the auto (green and red) mode really well with my Kr. You get good results easily by matching the ISO and f-stop as indicated on the Af200T settings on the camera accordingly.

Hi
my Kr have the same screwless hole. i think it is normal for Kr.
So far my flash and other functions are being working fine since pre order collection.
