Which 50mm f1.8?
The Pentax DA 50mm f1.8? Or a third party manual focus lens?
The DA does not have an aperture ring and shouldn't behave that way, if it is there is something wrong with the lens, maybe as simple as dirty contacts. More information is needed...

RioRico used to Dremel off the AI tab. The electrical contacts on chipped lenses prevent a force fit IIRC.

You can do that with a non-AI lens, but a lens with the electrical contacts won't work like that...

Kenko had a Pz-AF 2x teleconverter. I have the Vivitar branded version of the same TC.
I could get it to focus with a f5.6 lens on a K-x but it wouldn't AF my 55-300 @ f5.8, I ended up with the Vivitar 1.4x without Pz-AF. And it didn't AF my Sigma 150-500 at anything higher than f5 on the K-5 so it wasn't really useful to me...

It is compatible with all Pentax cameras from the Spotmatic and later. Early versions of the SV (H3v) and S1a (H1a) are not compatible. The later versions with an orange R on the rewind knob are compatible. Earlier cameras are not comatible except maybe the AP & S which lack aperture pushers…No auto on those obviously…
Other brands? I have nothing…I believe it is not compatible with Canon full frame DSLRs…

I won't be going any further than Lake Ontario, as Syracuse is in the path of totality. But historically there is an 80% chance of an overcast sky...

99% of the time I have no problem with USPS. I've been using Media Mail since it was still 3rd class book rate...I'v had packages delivered in less than a week from California.
But two packages, both shipped on the same day, at the same time, from the same post office, and one being delivered in 3 days, and the other going to Alaska is pretty hard to explain away.

The original Ricoh Singlex (Sears SL 11) 1962. Ricoh made several F mount lenses for it, but I've only ever seen the 55/1.4 for sale. Ricoh bought the production line from Mamiya who had been manufacturing the Nikkorex F for Nikon. Nikon ditched the Nikkorex when it introduced the Nikomat (Nikkormat). The F mount Rikenon had an extra bit of flange that prevented it from mounting on a Nikon body, but you can mount F mount Nikkors on a Singlex body.
There was a M42 version of the Singlex in 1964 that was also sold as the Sears SL 11. It gets very confusing...The Singlex TLS came out in 1967 with TTL stop down metering.

Not that I can see. The F mount lens does have significant differences besides being incompatible with Nikon built bodies...

I have both the Ricoh and the Sears. Also the older Ricoh 55/1.4 in Nikon F which is a different design.

Aren't those for mounting M42 lenses on Petri bayonet cameras? Petri made M42 cameras, then switched to the bayonet. Then got out of the manufacturing business and started rebranding M42 cameras from other makers before switching to rebranding K-mount cameras.

My first thought was that it might be a T-mount lens with a Petri T ring. It is a Vivitar pre set after all...but that rear element is really far back. It looks like it has a grub screw on the ring, try to loosen it and see if the ring unscrews. It looks to be the right thickness for a Petri T ring.
Petri only had two lens mounts, M42 and Petri Bayonet (a proprietary breech lock. 45.5mm register and 43mm diameter). I don't think there are any adapters for DSLR cameras, only mirrorless.

Looks like Petri. This lens is a preset so no diaphragm or meter index. It was a breech lock mount.

I've never used the AF buttons (other than by accident) but AFAIK they only activate the camera AF. The zoom lock is mechanical, it only locks the zoom at 150.

The 4 AF buttons on the lens only work with the K-3 or newer. Everything else should work.
