i use my camera so infrequently any more that i can't recall if it used to do something noticeable to indicate SR was working. it just seems as though something is lacking.
is there a way to check for proper SR functionality?

:) already have the k-x in sexy ferrari red (already had comments of "you sold your other one for that?" guess they think it's a toy??) hah! "highly recommended" toy from dpreview!

holding the menu button down upon startup reveals that i just upgraded the firmware to 1.02 ;) eh, guess it's time to break out the tiny screwdriver set and eggnogg!

thanks for the reply. i have done the standard fleet of checks. swapped batteries, lenses (happens even with no lens attached), pressed all buttons, etc.
seems like the camera has a volkswagen electrical system style of glitch..no offense vdub fans...im one too!

...click-click-click-click in continous rapid succession regardless of which button i press (shutter or otherwise). seems very odd that i get the same sound whether i press the shutter or the menu button.
any ideas?
this was given to me to resolve :)

Hi, all...recent Canon-convert here bitten by the awesome k-x bug! My 40d was a nice piece, but live view was poor, no video, no in-body stabilization, oh, and the subject of my question, no manual lens use!
so, i have a couple NOS lenses on the way from ebay, a tokina 28mm f/2.8 and ricoh 50mm f/1.7 (bought as a bundle of new in the box old tokinas for various mounts, canon, minolta, etc.)
in the meantime, i have a old Sigma 39-80mm f/3.5 that was lying around (no idea, had it for years), the mount seemed to match up to the kit lens on the k-x (my untrained eye can't spot a k-mount) so i mounted it. fit nicely, but the shutter wouldn't trigger. the aperture was blank, it may have even flashed dashes.
so, how do i get these buggers to work?
