Happy to announce that my Sample Sale special K-3 III came in yesterday!!! The camera looks new without a scuff anywhere on the body that I can find. My shutter is at 930 with a 5/2021 MFG date. Can't wait to take it outside! I'm upgrading from a K-5 II, I have some catching up to do!

Glad to see my camera went to a good home! The 35/2.4 balances great with this body and the dynamic range of that sensor is truly great.
Awesome shots and happy shooting!

I use an old Rikenon Zoom 35-70mm Macro lens which you can find on eBay for around $30 plus macro tubes I bough for about $10. I love the results.
I'm at work now but I can post some samples later on today. :)

That lens will only auto focus when mounted on a ME-F. You'll have to focus it manually on your K-01.

All shots were at 200mm using the Fotodiox adapter with built-in aperture ring (wish I had the OEM :hmm:). Wide open the lens is not very good, images are too soft and with some chromatic aberration. Once stopped down a bit the images get much sharper and the CA will be almost all gone.
Here are some samples with no post processing aside from a bit of exposure correction on maybe two shots.
I'm sure even better results could be achieved with a better tripod... But overall I recommend this lens on the Q if you'd like to try birding (or voyeurism).

The weather briefly cooperated and I got some photos... I'd consider these "Quick and dirty" shots but they should give you a fair idea of how the lens performs on the Q.
These are to give you an idea of the magnification...
And then some birds showed up to this tree...
The photos of the birds on the branches were taken from the same distance as the photo showing the whole tree, which I took with the 01 Standard Prime lens.
Also found this guy walking around our front yard.
Hope these are useful to you.

That lady is the biggest "photography" troll ever, she rarely ever knows what she's talking about... I just hate CNET overall.

Congrats on your purchase! That SIgma lens seems fine, check out some reviews of it in our database HERE! The sound you hear from the camera is the notorious "loose sensor" problem, Pentax factory workers love to leave the sensor unscrewed, so send it back for a replacement...
Just kidding, that sound is normal. Our sensor "floats" on a magnetic chassis for dust removal and Shake Reduction. Happy shooting.

Hey Fisher welcome to the forum. You've got yourself a great beginner camera! Aside from reading threads over at the Film SLR Discussion forum I suggest you look for photography books that are pretty easy to find at local thrift shops. Usually they're pretty old books that obviously only focus on film and have tons of great tips on photography techniques and much more!
I found this great book at my local Goodwill titled "The Photographer's Handbook" by John Hedgecoe & Alfred A. Knopf. It has a lot of info on different types of film cameras, films, studio techniques, lighting techniques, composition, and much more. For about $2 it is a great investment and was of great help when I started out shooting film with my Ricoh XR-S.
Film is a lot of fun, enjoy! :)
