I've had a 67ii for a couple of months and haven't noticed any issue with 'mirror slap', shooting mostly handheld using slow b & w film. I think stories like this are usually myths perpetuated by 'gear-heads' seeking to justify why their camera is 'better' than yours.
IMHO there is a noticeable difference between 6x7 and 645 at most enlargements.

..and presumably this all happens in manual mode?
I'm sorry for all the dim-witted questions but while I've got the lens with me, the camera is 200 miles away so I can't do any 'dry runs' at the moment...

Thanks for your reply: very helpful. Am I right in thinking that when the leaf shutter is 'armed', the shutter blades are in the open position?

I've just acquired the 165mm leaf-shutter lens for my 67ii. Can anyone instruct me in how to use it? Many thanks!

Hi everybody. I'm a recent convert to Pentax medium format film photography and I'm here to learn from all you experienced Pentax users. I've been an active photographer for about 35 years, primarily as a hobbyist although in my working life as a writer and journalist I try to do as much of my own photography as I can and have illustrated two books and various newspaper/magazine articles with my photographs.
I made the decision about five years ago that I would do as much of my own photography as possible on film because I find the process more satisfying than digital and because the less automated approach produces better results for me. I own Pentax 67ii and 645 cameras with standard lenses, both of which I bought secondhand for not very much, and I'm slowly getting to grips with them.
In 35mm I mostly use Nikons and Leicas, although I started out with an Olympus OM-1.
