There was one on the local craigslist a couple weeks ago. I had a meeting set up with the seller. The day we're supposed to meet, I got an e-mail. He sold it to someone else.

So, beyond Adorama does anyone know of a US retailer with the 58mm still available? I hesitated ordering this one because of a post a while back about someone who had gone through 3 'new' copies all full of dust.

I have a macbook and it is still the biggest piece of crap I've ever bought. Within one year of ownership everything on it was replaced at least once, except the screen. With that said, I personally still prefer OS X to Windows.
To me, the biggest disadvantage to owning a mac is that, at any moment Steve Jobs can decide to render your machine completely obsolete by refusing to let you update the OS.

Yeah, that's the offer I made. It was rejected and then I made an offer for the 83 on its own and am waiting to hear back. Oh well, at this point I just want to see it get fixed up and back out in the field.

It includes a Super-Tak 150mm f4 (which I already own) and a Super-Tak 55mm f2. Which puts the 83 around 200, all things considered.

Sadly he wants 300 for this and a couple other Taks in a package. And there is no way I would be able to take this apart and reassemble it without screwing something up. Sad to see this lens get just a little bit rarer right in front of our eyes.
I'm going to toss him a low ball off and see if he'll take it and then investigate finding a place to repair.

I've got a chance at a Takumar 83mm 1.9 through a friend. I asked for some pictures and overall everything looked great until I go to this one. Can anyone please tell me what the hell is going on here? It looks to me like the blades are all out of whack. I know how rare this lens is, so should I just bite the bullet and buy it in the hopes it could be repaired? Provided that something is actually wrong with it.

Here's the thing. My birthday is coming up in May and I have a nice little trip planned. And I'd really like to try and find this lens before then.
Normally I would just buy the lens new and then I have the comfort of a warranty, etc. However, I'm a bit OCD. I'd really like to find a 'Made in Japan' edition to match my 43 and 77 ltd.
So, if you happen to have a MIJ version you're looking to part with, complete with box and papers in mint condition, shoot me a PM and we can discuss a price.
Also, if you have an AIV version, please refrain from PMing me, I know that they are the same quality, but please note said OCD earlier in the post.

So I just got a Cosina 1.2 off of ebay and whenever I mount it to my k-x, it immediately goes to 1.2 and no matter what I put the aperture ring on it remains at 1.2 while mounted.
But, if I unmount it, it immediately goes to whichever aperture it's set to on the ring.
Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I'll be returning this asap.

Just got mine in the mail today. I was incredibly excited to see it on ebay since they seem to be a bit of pain to find these days.
I got it from JRace99 on ebay who originally stated it had oil on the blades, then said it didn't. I took a chance and as far as I can tell there isn't any oil in there. However, I'm pretty po'ed because the box it came in reeked of cigarette smoke and there were fingerprints all over the glass.
He's put another one up, this one appears to have oil on the blades, but I figured I would give everyone a heads up on here about my experience.

I'm still madly in love with my K-X, so much so that I've gotten myself the DA 10-17 fisheye, FA 43 and 77 limiteds and went on to get my girlfriend her own K-X.
They're both great, but I was playing around with hers the other day and I noticed that she had turned off the shake reduction. Well, I don't have the steadiest of hands so I went to turn it back on, but for some reason, the SR box is greyed out and I cannot select it.
Does anyone know how this could have happened? Or better yet, how I can fix it?
