Nature The Kiss Of Peace

I've been told that these are the official peace roses--are they not?
And here they are, real flower children, kissing for peace! :D
I guess the hope is always there for us!
And the beauty of the idea is as good as the beauty of the flowers.
Living in the moment!
Enjoy it!
And, by the way, this was exactly the position in which I found them!
The shot was a little bit difficult to reach, but very much worth the effort! :)
Angky.

Hello everyone, long time no see! I have been busy traveling since September, pretty much non-stop, but I am finally back home and ready to start posting again!

During my travels I had the opportunity to test drive a Phase One IQ4 Achromatic, which I loved so much that I ended up getting one of my own. Here's a couple of shots taken with the demo unti in Iceland:

Rodenstock 23mm, Phase One IQ4 Achromatic 150 Mp

Rodenstock 50mm, Phase One IQ4 Achromatic 150 Mp

Thank you for viewing! Have a great Sunday, best regards

On the walk from the car park, I found this eastern long-necked turtle crossing the path.

Fred! Look at the camera!

These two young male Grey Kangaroos were having a play-fight, practicing for when they might challenge the dominant male.

I wouldn't normally expect to see a pair of male Fairy-wrens preening each other. They ignored the Cisticola at the the top of the branch.

An Australian Reed Warbler. There was an immature bird nearby demanding food.

Ironically, the leaves of the reeds in the swamp are very hydrophobic.

The wings of the Pacific Black Duck are quite pretty on an otherwise drab brown bird.

Here's that last Fairy-wren looking for a feed. This gives you an idea of how hard it is to catch one standing still!

Nature Blue-winged teal

These little buggers are fast! I don't think they are blue winged teal, I don't know what I was thinking. I drove the 60 miles to sit on the side of the Illinois River at the nature preserve both Saturday and Sunday. The light was harsh as I didn't get my lazy self out of bed early enough. This from Saturday, I went back Sunday with lessons learned. Thousands of teal and mallards, red-winged blackbirds were in the thousands as well. I saw a couple bald eagles, several hawks and a few coot.

I was shooting the teal, using AF on the DA*300+1.4tc, I really wish it had a focus limiter and why does it move to the closest focus when it looses tracking? Anyway, I got a couple nice shots this is one of my better attempts, it's a long ways from good but I had fun and wasted a couple hours each day.

This is a continuation of the earlier thread about the fjords and landscapes around the small village of Bergsfjord in the most northern part of Norway. About fifty people live there. At night, if you are lucky as a photographer, you get to play with the Northern Lights.

Cheers,

Remco

I fixed the mistake on an earlier post. This is the photo that should be with this title, not the earlier one (now corrected with correct title, "On the Shoulders." I love this shot because it shows Maeve's pure joy at climbing the "spider web" at the playground.

I'm not sure what kind of spider does this, but the detail is pretty awesome, like a window screen. This morning's fog coated the webs in our pine tree limbs, making the webs more visible.

Very dull overcast day. But recently, these little birds have started to appear in my back yard garden, where, if I am very careful in opening the screen door to my lounge room as quietly as possible, I can shoot from inside my lounge room.

Still more throwaways than keepers with my new 150-450mm lens, but this came out reasonably OK, I think.

This is a conversion from the original photo, taken 10 years ago on my K20D, which made a nice, but not particularly interesting picture. The monochrome conversion in Topaz Studio achieves a much more satisfactory result, I think.
