I would say DA* 16-50. However she has a *istDL, it seems like we are wasting money on the SDM if buying the DA*. So the Tamron/Sigma 17-50 should be a proper choice.

I used a M42->P/K adapter, the one with flange similar to M42->EOS

Pentaxians,
Yesterday, I did sucessfully convert the Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58/1.4 into P/K. I repeated almost exactly the same as cogitech in his instruction of converting the Minolta 58/1.2 to EOS How to Convert Your Minolta MC Rokkor 58mm f1.2 Lens to Canon EOS Mount . The only extra work is to sand the lens mount shim a little more. This helps the lens focus to infinity due to the longer register distance of P/K compared to EOS.
Everything works fine and here are some sample shots of the Minolta MC Rokkor-PF 58/1.4 on my K10D |

Leroy. Thank you very much for your advice. I will definitely need to improve my flash photography skills. Off camera flash should be very useful in situations like this.

@LeroyPK: Thank you very much for your idea.
@All: I post an example about the flash problem I mentioned early. Hope that I can learn a lot more from you guys. Thank you all
I just use the flash on camera hot-shoe and bounce it off the ceiling in auto-thyristor or manual mode. The Sunpak does not have wireless capability unless you buy an optical slave or radio trigger for it.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I hope I did not ruin my friend's wedding :p
I think I need some more practice with flash photography. In some situations when the couple stood very close to the wall (say 1-2 ft) I got shadows even bouncing the flash off the ceiling. Is there any idea how to eliminate this?
For the layout, I started with Yervant Page Gallery but was not very happy with it. So I just exported the layout from YPG to PSD format and fine-tuned in PhotoShop for my taste.

Hi all,
This is my first attempt in shooting a wedding. I did it for my friend and for myself :)
Gear:
Pentax K10D + DA* 16-50mm + Sunpak 422D
Please give me some comments. I am on a learning curve. Thanks

Thanks RH for the input but I figured out the problem with my istDS is not the same as yours. I removed the top of the camera and saw a little wire was disconnected. It took me about 5 mins to solder it back to where it is. And the Av and Tv are rescued. It works like a charm now.
I have to say I love this istDS. I will prefer it to my K10D in some situations:
1. Travel light: This body w/ my set of pancakes is the obvious choice.
2. Pre-A lens: No need to worry about the metering problem any more.
3. TTL flash: It matches excellently with my TTL Promaster flash and saves me big bucks for a P-TTL flash.
Special thanks to Alan Chan for his instruction in removing the istDS top Spot Meter Re-alignment Photo Gallery by Alan Chan at pbase.com |
