Hi fotaki,
These images are a tribute to the human condition.People who have been stripped of everything as a result of whatever life gives them, to me become the essence of who they truly are. On the outside people are what we "see" they are. On the inside they are just like us, full of love, scares, strength and hope.
The first couple Tom and Jeannie are a Central Maine couple from Gardiner totally unrelated to the other two photos of Leslie who has a medical condition that does not allow her to grow hair. I relate to these individuals because I have my own personal struggles and get strength from who they are and how they survive life on a day to day basis. They are representations of place, simplicity, poverty, fear, humor, strength, truth and humility.

These is a Central Maine subjects that I love to photograph. They are poor in life but rich in so many other things. I dont get a whole lot of "love" for my work. Though my subjects often struggle with life in many ways none of them are mentally disabled. They have fallen through the cracks of society....to me they are heros of their world.
