Hi All. This picture was taken with a Rokinon 8 mm fish eye. Whenever I take a picture with the sun in the frame with this lens, the region around the sun has these multicolored blobs around the sun. The lens front was not so dirty. Is there anything I can do to reduce this? (btw pls excuse the blur, i think its because i forgot to change the focal length to 8mm and sr was on). The M 28mm does not produce such blobs.
(I put a link to the image, but it is not visible, sorry don't know what I am doing wrong, so putting the url here : https://picasaweb.google.com/arunava82/Rokinon8mm#5945953961537762786) |

Sorry to dig up an old thread. But this thread came on top of google search results for differences between DA 55-300 and the DA L version.
Just wanted to point out (for future googlers) that this statement in the thread is not correct.
Btw what I was googling for, was whether the hoods for both are compatible. It looks like they are.

Pls dont bash me for camera cruelty. The camera has since been cleaned professionally. This happened after I had taken some pictures during a whiteout in a dust storm. Didnt notice how dirty my sensor was till I took some pics at f22.

The lens is doing good. I figured it needs to be repaired before the lens separation increases. So put it on marketplace for sale to someone experienced enough to repair it. It is pending payment and shipping.
Btw, putting it back together was a challenge. Somehow the distance scale wasnt properly aligned to the focusing lens. So even if it focused to the minimum distance, the distance scale would show it as at a somewhat farther distance. Didnt notice it till today morning! Will have to take it apart again!

I was able to take apart the lens and the pic below is the glass which has the colorful stains in it. The stains are not on either surface. The second pic is how the part looks from the side. According to the diagram on this site (http://kmp.bdimitrov.de/lenses/primes/_optics/135f2.5-i.gif) , this looks like the third and the fourth lens (from the left) in the diagram are glued together. Can anything be done without doing damage to the lens?

Some very cool pics in this thread. I saw this rainbow colored cloud yesterday. The sun was to the top and right, but both the cloud and sun were in front of me.

Thanks guys for looking into this. So you guys think it is lens separation? I wished it was fungus! alteast i could try to clean it.
Sorry for the bad pics, I will post some better ones, now that I have removed the front part.
As for opening the lens, i was able to remove the front ring, quite easily. Tim60, I didn't have vernier calipers. But there were two small slots on the ring. I put the two ends of a scissor in those and turned and it unscrewed easily. I then unscrewed the front element. I couldn't open the screws under the rubber grip as my philips 00 screw driver tip broke!
Chaos_realm, i think it is not a scratch, as it is not on the front glass, and also that it spread out a little since the time i bought it. And the spots are quite colorful, but may be my angle was not good, so it didnt come out like that in the pic. I will post some pics in the evening.

I had bought this pentax k 135mm 2.5 from a camera fair last year. There was a small spot a little away from the center, visible from the front which looked multicolored like oil film on water. It was not visible when viewed straight on. Its not on the outside but somewhere a little bit inside. Now the spot has increased in size and spread. Another multicolored oil-like spot has started to rise from one side. So .. experts can you please tell what is this? Is this bad for the lens?

My roommate asked me to take some pics of him doing some skateboard tricks. I set the iso to 400 and took the following at shutter speeds between 1600 and 2500. I clicked the shutter just after he would jump. Even though the tricks he did looked awesome, the pics somehow didnt reflect that. How do I get the timing right? Also some suggestions please on how to take more dramatic skateboard pics. thanks

Thank you Na Horuk and Smf for the comments. Na Horuk, I was surprised how the flowers came out isolated, as there was some light around, but exposing for the flower darkened out the background. I like the sharpness of the flower #2 image, but image#3 is my favorite too. Smf, I will try to remove the green leaf as you suggested and see how it comes. Thanks again guys for the encouragement.

Thanks ppl for the comments. In the 1st and 3rd pic, i tried to focus on the three berries in a line with water drops on them. Didnt center them so it looks like the pic is not in focus. I cropped the 1st one to bring them to center. I used ms office picture manager for cropping. I also clicked the auto correct button in the tool. It seems like it increased the color in the pic. I like the increased color, but does it look bad?
