Got my KP the other day - finally had a little time to shoot around today after doing my yard work. Here's a few shots that turned out pretty nice I think. Shot with either the 18-135 or 55-300 HD DA PLM |

So camerasize.com is nice and all...but holding a camera in your hands and actually handling it will tell you more than that.
That being said...wondering if anyone who's gotten a KP has owned or had experience with an EM5 II would care to compare the two from a size/weight/handling perspective?
I switched to m43 a few years ago mainly for size considerations...but I do miss my Pentax glass. KP looks much more svelte than most DSLR out there....so I'm thinking of checking it out.

REDUCED: Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM II Asking Price
675 USD Item Location
NE PA (United States) Item Description PRICE REDUCED
Selling my Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM II. Pentax mount. Like new condition. Works great on my K30 . I know there are rare reports of bad focus and image softness wide open...I haven't seen any of that. Although the live view does hunt alot and only locks in very good light so if that bothers you, Sigma will update the firmware for free. Since I'm not a live view shooter and I didn't want anyone touching the lens since it focuses perfectly, I never bothered.
Link to full size samples at f/2.8, 50, 100 and 150mm: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8smAxMhSVZVVEp6b0ZoQUJQWVk&usp=sharing
I have used this lens on two different K-30 bodies and have not had to make any focus adjustments in the body. You can see these are well focused and very sharp.
Price is $675 shipped US, outside US add $30 Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

I agree, and disagree.
Yes, some people will make you think you *must* have a limited lens to get excellent photos. Of course this isn't true. I carry 2 zooms in my Pentax kit. One is a Tamron 28-105 that you can find for about $50 to $75. This lens is sharper than most expensive zooms I've seen and has a very nice range for a walkaround lens. The other zoom I carry is a Tamron 70-300 (don't know if it's the same one you mention, mine is the older LD Macro model) and this is also a sharp lens and gives me a great telephoto option. I actually got both of these lenses as part of a kit with a ZX-7 film body I bought at a garage sale for $50 for the whole kit. Money well spent.
The FA 50 1.4 you mention...this is still my all-time favorite Pentax lens. This lens can do things for me that NO ZOOM, be it a budget zoom, or an expensive DA* zoom, can do for me. Yeah it has it's drawbacks...and the coatings aren't great so it does require a hood to get optimal results. I think this lens would get higher ratings if people would use a hood more because I think the flare on it is that bad that wide open even flare from indoor lighting causes detail to wash out. I don't know why they don't include one but no big deal, I bought a $5 hood on ebay and problem solved. I don't recall that I've ever gotten a hood with any 'kit' zoom I've ever bought where the lens was a part of a kit.
I've tried the FA 77 and 43 limiteds, and also the DA 70, 40, and 21 limiteds. Of these, I really liked the 70 although for indoor use it was a bit long. The 40, while a cute pancake lens, is too slow at f/2.8. The 21 is a nice lens but for me 28 is generally wide enough and I can get that on my zooms. The 77 and 43 are nice lenses....but they're too close to other lenses in focal length and if given the choice I'd take the FA 50 and the DA 70.
The bottom line is, both primes and zooms have their place in the kit.

Unfortunately, I have some unexpected medical and home repair expenses just come out of nowhere and I need to unload some of my camera gear. I have the following for sale. PRICES ARE US SHIPPING BLUE Pentax K-30. The camera is, literally, brand new, I have not taken a shot with it since buying it about 3 weeks ago. It was a kit but I sold the 18-55 as I had no interest in it, so this is just the camera body (along with all the accessories). I'll throw in an additional aftermarket battery. $475 Shipped/Paypal'd SOLD
Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX - This one hurts because these are so hard to come by and I'm going to kick myself later on, I know it. I bought this as a refurb from Sigma 2 months ago and other than some test shots I haven't really used it at all. $775 Shipped/Paypal'd
Price on the lens is adjusted as follows: I want $700 "Net to Me" for the lens so here's the shakedown:
US: $700 + $21PP + $21 Ship/Ins. = $742
Canada: $700 + $28PP + $42 Ship/Ins. = $770
Europe: $700 + $28PP + $52 Ship/Ins. = $780
South America: $700 + $28PP + $52 Ship/Ins. = $780
Australia: $700 + $28PP + $57 Ship/Ins. = $785
Anywhere not mentioned, use the Australia price.
Before anyone asks, I won't ship this First Class International, as it cannot be insured or tracked. Lastly, I have my Pentax FA 50mm f/1.4. Excellent, like new condition, and includes the box. $275 shipped/paypal'd. SOLD |

Congrats. I have similar feelings about the K30. I've had alot of SLR's over the past 10 years, including Canikon stuff, and since jumping to Pentax a K10D, K100D, K-x, K-7, K-5 and K-r before getting the K30...and to be honest outside of the K-5, the K30 is my favorite of all time. I sold my K-5 last year when I had this big idea (stupid, half-brained, whimsical) to totally switch over to micro 4/3 for a more compact system...but after a few months I REALLY missed my Pentax glass (mostly my FA 50 1.4...there's nothing in micro 4/3 that even comes close to being that fast and providing that kind of creamy smooth bokeh) so I jumped back over and bought a K30. I bought it because it was cheap and I was skeptical at first because I was used to a K5 and was afraid it wasn't going to be good enough...but I have seriously been pleasantly surprised. The K-30 fills all my needs as a photographer and while I do miss some small things from the K-5 (mainly the grip)...I just don't find myself wanting anything more than the K30. It's fast, weather sealed, and of course image quality is superb. While the K5 IIs looks interesting to me...I think for awhile I'll be sticking with my K30 while I invest any upgrades elsewhere...like in more K-mount glass or more glass for my micro 4/3 setup.
Enjoy! I'm sure you're going to find it a pleasure to use.

I got mine on Tuesday and finally had a chance to run through a couple of test shots this morning. I'm very pleased with the sharpness in test shots...focus seems spots on and I can't wait to use it for some 'real' photos. Unfortunately mine has the live focus issue on the K30...not sure if I'll send it in for a firmware update just for that since I really don't use live focus much unless it's just snapshots...and this isn't exactly a snapshot lens. I wanted a fast lens in this range for portraits and also shooting basketball indoors, none of which I can see myself utilizing live focus.
Thanks again to the OP for sharing the deal...
