K-x problem with Tamron 18-250mm (A18)

Thanks for the replies

I had already cleaned the mount twice and make sure the lens was latched in good condition. Unfortunately, the bad symptom was still persisted. I think I never clashed it before since Kx was my first DLSR. I really love it and care about it.

Any suggestion or advice for me??? Please kindly help.

Need help, recommendation and advice from experts:
Using fine with this Tamron lens for several months. Unfortunately, abnormal was found intermittently while travelling at Korea.
Symptom: AF mode indication was strangely/suddenly changed to MF while trying to take a picture, and aperture value was abnormally flashing at the display. Even though you can still press the shutter to take a picture, the image certainly was in bad condition. Sometimes, it'll back to normal within a short time period. The worst case was replaced with a fresh new battery. I am not quite sure whether this was a battery issue, lens problem or K-x trouble...Should I bring the lens to Tamron or calling help at Pentax? Pentax may not provide any warranty service since I was using a 3rd party lens.
Look forward to hear your reply. Thanks.

Dear all,

Just bought Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC MACRO and feel extremely good on Kx body (v1.01 firmware). No more trouble was found like Tamron A16 model. I'll go ahead to enjoy photo shooting with my family.

Btw, thanks to all of you especially OutOfFocus, Turnip and UnknownVT.

Best Regards,
Henry from Hong Kong

Dear Mr. Tunrip & UnknownVT,

Thank you both of your help. What can I say!!! I guess I was the only unlucky guy in this case...or may be the K-mount (K, Kf, Ka, Kaf, Kaf2...) bundled on Tamron lens are not the same in different countries. As you may know, mount model would cause different effects on camera. Anyway, news about my testing on other 3rd party lens will be notified to you both asap.

Best Regards,
Henry from Hong Kong

Dear UnknownVT,

Thanks for your comment...Actually, not sure and no idea.

Anyway, it's a good news for me that I can assure the functionality of my Pentax Kx. I'm now looking for other alternatives (such as Sigma) to see whether there was compatibility issue. News and updates will be posted in here for reference.

Best Regards,

Dear Mr.Turnip,

Thanks for your info. In that case, I think I have to check my Pentax Kx body. However, I'd just bought it for 3 months. If it was crashed, I feel really bad.

Thanks for the reply. I am still waiting for TAMRON's reply; already 3-4 days, I hope there would be a resolution.

dear OutOfFocus & deadwolfbones,

that's really a great news for me, but how come i can't. it was failed even testing on several Kx 1.01 bodies. are you using extra adaptor or bundle mount with TAMRON len? i am sure firmware 1.00 was working fine on this good quality len; the only difference was firmware.

one more thing: are you using old TAMRON models without AF??? it seems like this was another differ

Pentax Kx + Tamron sp af 17-50mm f/2.8 xr ld aspherical

jordan,

thanks for your help and reply. i'd already tried to refresh the firmware again. as you know, if upgrade process was failed, the camera should not be functioned. unfortunately, the result was negative. i give up and had changed with another len from retail shop; TAMRON af18-250 f/3.5-6.3 ld aspherical (if) macro.

actually, i really love TAMRON fixed aperture len; reasonable price and good quality. why can't i use it??? i'll never upgrade firmware again, this is a terrible experience

may be i need to wait further...make more money to purchase an expensive Pentax len or wish there would be a firmware fix in coming future

Pentax Kx + Tamron sp af 17-50mm f/2.8 xr ld aspherical

jordan,

thanks for your reply.

kx was functioned normally with other lens (included tamron 18-250 which tested at retail shop). i think the problem was only occurred on 3rd party lens with fixed aperture. i had contacted Hong Kong support and he refused for a downgrade action. furthermore, it's not pentax responsibility to support 3rd party lens. i'm horribly upset that I can't use this great and reasonsble price len (Tamron sp af 17-50mm f/2.8 xr ld aspherical)

I have only two choices; either give up the Tamron len or hope for a fix of new firmware release

I got troubles after upgrade the Kx firmware to 1.01; the TAMRON len was function abnormally, all the focus/aperture etc. indicators were fluctuated/refreshed continusously and unexpectedly. I can't access any menu since the LCD display was kept refreshing.

Does anyone has such experience before? Neither downgrade files nor methods could be found at Pentax offical sites. It's terrible to a new DSLR guy.

Please kindly help...
