That's what I thought and I am not brave enough to try the hack, pentax should write a program for that!!

I have a Pentax K-7 and four lenses, three of which are DA* lenses. I am having trouble with my f-2.8 16-50 mm DA*. It will not focus on the AF setting on my K-7, my other lenses will, and my 50mmf-1.2 will focus with the cameras motor.I can manually focus the lens, and it will focus with my older model pentax with the cameras motor.I have cleaned the contacts on the lens and made sure it is fully mounted, and have manually focused the lens in MF setting to try and kick start the lens's motor all to no avail. I believe the lens motor is gone, is there a way to bypass it and use the camera motor to focus, OR what would it cost to have the lens motor replaced, OR is there anything else I can try?

I had, at one time, two slr screw mount film Pentaxes, with a large assortment of pentax lenses which were stolen, so with the insurance money I bought a new Pentax MX, which now sits in a closet with all its lenses and a few rolls of film in the fridge, don't even knoe if anyone prints them anymore!!
