So I am as tempted as ever to pull the trigger on a K-3 with grip & the 540 flash. I'm going to offering my Sigma 400 for sale to help fund the purchase. If you might be interested, reference the pictures posted by DES showing my lens from the last time I considered part with the lens. I just want to make certain the K-3/grip/540 is still available for $846 as I'm seeing on some of the other threads.

Getting anywhere near $550 for mine would put me into a K-5 IIS with a grip for peanuts and a K-3 with grip for a small can of peanuts.
Tempting......I'll have to see what this AF version brings on ebay.

Des is correct.
He even provided a link to an old post of mine from back when I was thinking about selling the lens.
I forgot all about it.

With the current grip kit prices on the K-5 IIS and K-3 so enticing I'm again thinking of selling it.
The OP's post caught my eye since I'd be interested to know what these sort of lenses might be worth on ebay.

Anyway, I don't mean to be hijacking this thread.

This shot proves you don't need to show the 'girlie bits' to produce a visually interesting photo.

It certainly does but showing the girlie butt a bit sure adds a bunch of interest!

Well for what it's worth I called Pentax Webstore and spoke with a representative named Scott. He confirmed there's a problem with their web site and they are working on a resolution. It may take a day or so. They put the 50/1.8 on back-order so they don't get anymore orders until they problem is fixed.
I inquired about the free shipping that I was offered and he said only one promotion can be applied to an order so if you got the promotion price then you won't be eligible for the free shipping. My invoice shows free shipping and a total price of $119.95 and so does my Visa card pending transaction.
So this transaction seems very questionable to me. I didn't get any assurance that Pentax will be honoring the transaction from my conversation with Scott but I also didn't get any assurance that they will not. So it's all up in the air and only time will tell....

I saw that Cameta Camera through Amazon offers a Canon Pixma Pro-100 with a package of 13" x 19" paper for $99.95 after a $300 MIR (Amex Gift Card) & Free Shipping. I just bought this same setup about a month ago through Amazon directly for $130 after the MIR.

I'm glad you already replied seventysixersfan. When I first read jamarley's comment about the 55-300 I was surprised because my wife shoots with that lens and in my opinion it provides the best IQ in terms of bang for the bucks. In the meanwhile, I recall comments about the 18-135 as being nothing extraordinary (but still very good).

K20d- It takes a long time to store the shot

The problem was with the Sandisk card. It was a blue colored 8GB with a "2" inside of a "C", possibly meaning Class 2?
I replaced it with a Sandisk Extreme Pro and the write speed was much faster, maybe about 1 second vs. 4 seconds with the other card.
Happy it's not the camera.

The problem seems to be occurring even with short exposures. I understand what's happening with the long exposures and noise cancellation. I think the K20 is ill :(..........................

I was using mostly Sandisk Class 6. I tried others and they seemed slow as well. I have an extreme card. I'll try that. I was taking some long exposure shots yesterday.

I've noticed that my K20d seems to take several seconds (4 or 5) to store a basic simple .jpg or .dng.
I'm not doing bracketing or anything else fancy. I reset the camera and I've tired different cards and they are all slow on the K20d but not the k5. I hope the k20d isn't broken.

I called B&H to make sure the Canon Pixma 9000 is in stock. I was told it was and I immediately placed my order online. As it turns out the item is on backorder. The $200 rebate is valid until 9/30/12. Why did B&H allow me to place an order with no indication that the item was not available? PO#1021661809.

They did manage to raise the price a few bucks.

18-55 WR for $101 out the door this weekend

I had to go into work today but I left a note on the front door for UPS that if I get 18lbs of ceiling fan I have to refuse it but if I get a 1Lb lens I'll take the delivery. It turn out that the package tracking shows that I refused it. I have to assume I was shipped an 18Lb ceiling fan. Oh well. I already put the charge in dispute last night with AMEX. Hopefully OS will credit my account and that will be the end of this mess. I'm done with OS forever.

Well, to humor everyone, I've included my chat conversation with the OS rep, Jacob.

Jacob: Hi, my name is Jacob.
Jacob: How may I help you?
Visitor: Hi- I placed an order for a Pentax lens that should weigh about 1 pound. I see in the tracking information that it weights 18 pounds. There was a problem with the way Overstock posted the item but (prior to placing the order) I was assured that I would be receiving the lens. Instead I will be receiving an 18 lb ceiling fan.
Visitor: The order number is 1155xxxxxxx
Jacob: I am sorry to hear that, let me check and help you with your order details.
Jacob: Thank you for providing me the order number.
Jacob: For security purposes, could you please verify your full name and billing address, including the city, state and zip code?
Visitor: Omitted
Jacob: Thank you.
Jacob: Are you referring to the item 'Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR Zoom Lens' ?
Visitor: Yes
Jacob: Thank you for confirming.
Jacob: Would you mind holding for 2-3 minutes while I check on that for you?
Visitor: ok
Jacob: Thank you for staying online.
Jacob: I appreciate your time and patience.
Visitor: ok
Jacob: Be rest assure that you will receive the item what you have ordered.
Visitor: It's not the item I ordered if it weighs 18 pounds. LOL
Jacob: Some time the tracking information will not be update correctly.
Visitor: I thought there would be a problem. Sorry I placed the order. The web listing showed the lens but beneath it it referred to a 42" ceiling fan. I chatted with a OS rep about it and was assured then that I'd get the correct item.
Jacob: I checked and see that your 'Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR Zoom Lens' in transit.
Jacob: Yes you are correct, please be advised that you will receive the same item what you have ordered.
Visitor: Then why is it showing that 18 pounds of lens is on it's merry way?
Visitor: I would think that a ceiling fan weighs 18 pounds
Jacob: Please note, sometimes the tracking information will not be updated correctly that's the case it shows 19 pounds.
Visitor: I'm calling AMEX now and putting this transaction into immediate dispute. If I get what I ordered I'll cancel the dispute.
Jacob: I am positive that you will receive what you have ordered.
Visitor: You being positive is appreciated but it's no guarantee
Jacob: If in case you receive the incorrect item, please contact us back and we will help you with the replacement.
Visitor: I'm safer disputing this transaction with AMEX and if OS sends the fan OS can deal with AMEX.
Visitor: I won’t want a replacement. I'll be done with OS. OS is no Amazon that's for sure

Bottom line...I'm leaving a note on the door for UPS refusing the delivery.

WG-2 Zoom Video Mode- Only in Digital Zoom?

I noticed that zoom only works in video mode if I select digital zoom. Why is that? Maybe I should be asking what's the difference between digital & optical zoom? Then again, maybe I should bust out the owner's manual and do some reading?

K5 with Tamron 90mm- No AF at Infinity

I pointed the camera towards the sky and AF would not lock. I tried the same with the filter removed and still AF would not lock. I also tried with a -2 and then a +2 lens adjustment (menu #26 on C)- no AF lock.
Since I was shooting to infinity I can understand the AF not locking. In fact there weren't any significant clouds in the composition for contrast so the AF struggled I guess. However at the ballgame the batter or pitcher was only several hundred feet away, maybe 250'-350' or so? Certainly no where near "infinity". Still AF would not lock. I tried the various AF & metering adjustments by altering the switch positions on the camera body.
The lens takes excellent pictures whenever it does lock or if I manually focus. How does/can a lens focus beyond infinity? I don't understand the concept. Thanks.

K5 with Tamron 90mm- No AF at Infinity

I was using single point AF at first but then I tried the green auto option (whatever it's referred to as?). I also tried changing the metering options.
None helped. I did have a Hoya Skylight (1B) filter attached.
I was sitting on the 3rd base side and noticed AF would lock in if I focused on a subject 100' feet away (eg. 3rd baseman) but no AF if the subject was the pitcher or batter.

K5 with Tamron 90mm- No AF at Infinity

I intended to shoot some pictures at Yankee Stadium (vs. Blue Jays) with my 18-250 Tamron mounted on the K5. When I got to the game I realized I mistakenly mounted the Tamron 90mm instead. Oh well, make do with what you've got..
However, I wasn't able to take pictures with the camera set on AF at infinity. I tried opening the aperture and various meter and focus setting. The hexagon focus icon was blinking. I could get focus at closer distances but not at home plate, which was further away.
Finally I switched over to manual focus and was able to get the shots.
I'm not sure what might be wrong here- lens, camera or user error. Any ideas as to what went wrong with AF?
