I quite prefer my moons with a little daylight splashed on them, alas, it seems like they always come out at night. Kudos for seizing this opportunity.

Good job getting a couple with the whole bird in the frame, since they are almost never where you aim the lens and get set for the shot.

There was a wildlife exhibition at my grade school when I was a kid. A raptor, species unknown, landed on the basketball hoop of the gymnasium and performed this party trick. I still recall being surprised at how much stuff comes out of them.

Wow, kingfisher and heron together....in a tree....and they stayed long enough for you to get a discernible photo of it. Not quite a unicorn but almost.

There are a lot of ways to support the lens and reduce/eliminate the shake. Some of the strategies from rifle shooting crossover. Take a breath, exhale halfway, pause, shoot. Proper bracing of your arm on your body and your feet position need to be considered. I shot an A*600 on a $40 Bogen Bomber set of legs and $100 knockoff gimbal from ebay (thanks China!) with excellent results. So it does not need to cost an arm and a leg to get properly supported. I just saw an amazing set of old aluminum manfrotto legs for $50 in an old "antique mall" near me. I wanted to rescue them so they could be returned to their former glory but I already have 2 sets myself so a third would be nonsense. You can also put the camera on rapid fire, assume the first shot is going to be the shaky one and the second or third should be more stable.

I've seen set-ups with a manfrotto flexi-arm and super clamp devoted to this purpose specifically. I guess that's when you know you're serious about it.

And off goes Ed, to write his book about the philosophy of time. Sometimes I feel like time passes the way the blurred hands demonstrate, slowly feeling every minute or second of it for better or worse. Sometimes I feel like time passes with the focused hands just remembering small moments like individual frames cut from a roll of moving film not really sure what happened before or after. That is just how I see it. Other people may see it differently.

It’s probably that piece of PVC called a telephoto lens. They’re 500mm f12 all over the auction site.

A Badger, don't see those . . . . ever! Look forward to you getting some shots of it in the daylight.

I went to visit my sister in Alaska.

Some call them weeds, some call them desert wildflowers but each spring some of the bushes that look like all the other bushes decide to show that they are different and unique and not just a muted sage green color.
