Hmm, I'll have to run some tests to see exactly how the K-x behaves. Thanks for all the info!

On my old Nikon D60, I was able to set a Max ISO and Min Shutter Speed when in Program or Av mode. The Max ISO setting is easy enough to adjust, but is there any way to set an Auto Min Shutter Speed on the K-x?

Great shots man. Coming from a customization-crippled Sony, I'm lovin' my K-x as well!

Got in on this deal last night. Looks like the price is back up today. I can wait a few weeks, I'll just keep using the K-x i'm "renting" from Wal-Mart ;). Keepin' my fingers crossed for that K8 too...

Hmmm, the 12-24 seems nice for the wide end, but with f/4, it wouldn't be that great with low light indoor shooting. If anything, I'll save up and buy that later. Right now, I'm leaning more towards the Pentax 16-50, Sigma 18-50, or Tamron 17-50 (all 2.8). I've read that the 16-50 is not worth its price because of it's quality and performance.

f2.8 until 35mm would be nice... have to wait for the reviews though :)

After reading some reviews, the 55-300 seems to be the best choice as long as the SR can keep up (my sony was pretty dang good).

I'm still kind of lost with primes. I was using a 50 1.8 on my Sony and loved it. It was only $150, so looking at some of the hiked Pentax prices leaves me kinda dizzy.

...and what's good for macros? ugh...

The list is growing...

Oh, and I did the silent update. We shall see the results when I go play around tmrw.

Hello everyone!

I've been using my new K-x the past 2 days and have been very impressed. I'm switching from Sony, and the Pentax seems to be a much more customizable, well put together camera... not to mention the lower price, video, better jpeg engine, and ISO performance. I do, however, need suggestions on lenses. I wanna keep it around $1000 for a walkabout (2.8 please), zoom, and portrait prime (atleast one of them needs to be macro). I've come up with a list of lenses (2 of which are sigma) and could use some input.

Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM
Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG OS
Pentax SMCP-FA 50mm f/1.4 Lens

The reason why I went with the new OS Sigmas is because of the poor in-body SR compared to my Sony's SSS. I really enjoyed the extra couple stops.

So what do you think? Any other suggestions?

On a side note, does anyone think Pentax could improve their SR through a firmware update?

Thanks for your input!
-Nick
