Very happy with this format.

2 questions someone might know:
  1. Where could I pickup (or how could I create) a lens cap for the 18mm lens? It was missing from the one I purchased

  2. How can the lenses be cleaned internally? Hoping this is possible - my 24mm is extremely "murky" while the 18 & 50mm lenses are both very clear.

So I finally broke down & tried shooting a couple more rolls as I always had in the past (just put the film in & shoot - no cutting of the ISO tab).

Beautiful. My guess is either this camera doesn't need the compensation via cutting the tab - or - the labs are aware of the ISO discrepancy by default, and compensate. Regardless, just popping film in the Auto 110 & firing away produces amazing results!!

Batteries are new & installed correctly. Camera is quite pristine & appears to be working properly. From my post above:

Checked the "slipping" link above - doesn't mention how to know if your camera has this issue or not. Mine is near-new so I don't imagine it does, plus the film appears to advance normally in the rear window - 2 pumps of the lever per frame each time. The only thing I can't verify is if the camera is firing when film is loaded. Film seems to advance fine, and camera fires & appears to meter correctly with no film loaded. Quite baffled.

Great link! But no, I haven't checked the manual. Not even sure what I would be checking it for unless there's a troubleshooting sections that says something to the effect of "everything is working properly but your film comes out blank".

In my previous post I mentioned that the only thing I can think of to try is not cutting that tab on the film. Reason I posted this is according to all I've read from other 110 users (not necessarily the Pentax Auto 110), cutting this tab is necessary. Haven't heard anyone post the opposite, so was curious to see if 110 users do or do not cut this tab on the film.

Unmolested film cartridges work great in my old Minolta 110, so I'll have to assume they'll work fine in this camera as well.

Will post an update once I get a roll back trying this other method...

Yep - 2 pumps of the lever per frame. Numbers change in the window, and you can feel the tension at the end of the roll ... all that is working well.

Only thing I can think of is, in spite of all I've read, I should not "cut the tab" to make the camera meter "properly".

At least that's the only thing I can think of to do differently.

Exactly - not sure how to even begin to address this as it only seems to have the problem when film is loaded into the camera.

With the back of the camera open, it fires fine. You can see aperture changing based on light as well, so everything works fine with the back open, but not at all when it is closed with film in it...(?)

Very good idea ... here they are.

I have seen the "green" cast on old film. Have shot old film & color is tweaked, but there is at least an image.

The other roll had a 2009 expiration date, and color seems to look good as well. But not a hint of an image on either roll...?

Holding the camera just now I do see a green light in the lower-right that changes to amber when I point it towards darker areas.

If I open the back so I can see the shutter trip, I can see it is much more open when shooting directly into dark areas and it will stop down when shooting into the light. Everything appears to be working perfectly.

The only "new" thing I did this time was cut the "tab" on the 110 film. I had read this was necessary so the camera would properly meter at 200 or 400 ISO instead of the default 80 ISO.

I suppose I'll try one more roll without cutting this tab and see what happens.

Photos are not black. All frames are a solid color, but none are black. Shot 2 rolls, each was different. The lab told me one roll was overexposed & the other underexposed. From original post:

I'll try to scan a bit of each roll & post a pic to demonstrate exactly what it looks like.

I was able to see that light ... although not much as I was shooting in full sun or partly cloudy conditions. Plenty of light for the most part so am a bit baffled as to what could have happened with this film.

That is the case - I should have been more clear.

There is a complete absence of any detail in the shots. All frames are solid color. One is "orangeish" like a typical negative, the other roll is greenish. (Assuming the orangeish neg is the one they considered over & the greenish roll under.)

I shot an extremely old roll of 110 film a few years ago for a project & the old film had this same green cast to it, but there still was an image there - although quite tweaked.

Neither roll has a hint of any image - just solid color in the frames.

The "between frame" lines are there with the frame numbers. One roll has that reddish/orange look of regular negs, but absolutely solid color in the frames - no hint of detail.

Other roll has the frame numbers too, but the frames themselves are a greenish color. Completely solid as well.

Had it all processed by Dwayne's Photo in Kansas - would be very surprised if those guys screwed up this bad.

Just got my 1st two test rolls back - & both were completely blank!!

The lab said one was underexposed & the other overexposed. Bizarre, as both rolls were 400 speed film, I "cut the tab" on both of them so the camera would supposedly read as 400 asa. One roll was early 90's & the other had an expiration of 2009 so I can't imagine it was the film. I shot poorly-stored 110 film from the 80's film on a Minolta - images were tweaked but there was something there.

Trying to figure out what could have gone wrong. The camera seemed to be working fine - I could see shutter tripping when I would open the back, even installed a fresh set of batteries to be safe. All images were shot during the day, outdoors. Sunny/partly cloudy. There is not even a hint on an image on a single frame. Completely blank film. As if a lens cap was still on or something.

Have never experienced anything like this with any other camera ... struggling to figure out what could have possibly happened & not sure where to begin.

Camera was working fine, but after playing around with it much more I think I found the answer to my question. I was looking for a light & just found one in the lower-right corner of the viewfinder. Alternates from green or amber depending on the light. Reacts if you push on the 80/400 ASA switch as well.

Have used Dwayne's for Kodachrome. Just sent a couple 110 & super-8 rolls off. Looking forward to seeing the results from this camera!

Anyone have experience with the Auto 110 motordrive?

Installed a fresh set of batteries. When disconnected from the camera, turning the power switch on causes the motor to run constantly. The winder doesn't turn (nothing visible moves), I just hear the motor running constantly.

When connected to the camera, same symptom exactly. Camera behaves as if the motor drive isn't attached, but the motor sounds like it's running constantly.

Not sure - I didn't put them on a multitester, but I did install a new set of batteries just in case.

Regardless, question still stands ... not sure how I would tell if the batteries are good or not (or even if there is a way). I would assume there's a red light or something in the viewfinder that illuminates in low light, but so far haven't been able to make it do anything. Perhaps the batteries control exposure completely automatically without any indication to the user...?

An separate auto 110 question - what are the two small batteries inside the camera for?

I'm guessing they have to do with the meter, but I don't see any evidence yet they do anything. Have shot one roll on the camera so far, tried pushing the shutter 1/2 way down in low night - no red "underexposed" indicator in the viewfinder. No reaction of any sort.

What are these batteries for?

You know anyone who's tried the Bluefire process? I'm leaning toward just sending everything to Dwaynes at this point because I have some super-8 to get transferred as well.

Checked that link & the "Bluefire" processing caught my eye. Most of the 110 film I have is 2009-2010, but I just shot a roll from 2001. Would sending to a lab like Dwayne's be fine, or is it best to try the process described below?

"Concerned that time, heat, and moisture may have damaged it? Bluefire® "Lux Eterna™" processing for long-outdated film is available..."

I've no idea how this roll from 2001 was stored. Have processed 35mm from '98 & it came out fine, other more recent film that was stored under harsh conditions didn't work out as well.

Unfamiliar with this Bluefire process - will it destroy an otherwise good roll of film?

Based on the links above, sounds like if I cut the film cartridge it will expose perfectly with 400 speed film loaded.

If I load 200 speed film, I should still cut the cartridge, and then pull the processing 1 stop (if possible)?

Just picked up an Auto 110, which I think will be very useful!

Curious what this camera meters at by default? Most of the 110 film I have & can find is ISO 200. Not sure what the default ISO of the Auto 110 is.

Figure I can just push or pull the film to compensate if the default ISO is something other than 200.

Any idea how/where I'd find this info about the camera?
