Quicktime works, photo - jpeg but it really gives some big files.
You can also do .h264 in mov which works best for me.

It's because of the file system the SD CARD uses. Most SD Cards are using the FAT 32 file system which has a maximum of 4 gb per file. If you want to shoot longer than that then you need to have a NFTS file system on your card. People on the internet are formatting their sd cards to nfts but i reckon there are a few dangers involved. But remember if you have a 32 gb card you can shoot 9 x 4gb which is 9x 12 minutes, so you don't lose memory.

"It's kinda strange if you think about,
Every day i go to school, following the same route.
But since a week or two , this girls keeps appearing on the way.
Dressed in a red coat, just standing there.
I wonder what she is doing, i just have to know"
" and this is ?
Merle , Merle goedhart.
Ok, i wanted to introduce myself this morning but you were gone.
My name is Sean and this is Donovan"
"A school with problems, it's probably the last thing i would think of that would bring two people together. The next morning i saw Merle again, i was feeling a bit bad about talking to her brother behind her back"
"Hello? I'm looking for Remy Goedhart?
that is me, is something wrong?"
" And now comes the best part, the girl that was in the car accident, was named Merle Goedhart"
This is the rough translation and thanks, the girl is my girlfriend and i am the guy you see the most in the video!

So i want to go to film school so i shot a film. My main camera is a Pentax k-x so i shot it with that. Problem is, Pentax is not like the Canon and Nikon. It has a more grainy , indie feeling to it so i decided that that is the way to go.
It is shot with a Pentax k-x with a 50mm DA F1.4
And i had some problems with that, which i wanted to share with you.
As you know people can lock the shutter on 1/50 by using the AE-L.
But when i did that on the 1.4 i got way way too much light. So i could either put a ND filter on it or adjust the shutterspeed. I was worried that the shutterspeed would make my movie go jittery but it didn't. It's the same as 1/50 and i bet no-one can tell any difference. I will post the short in a while but here is the trailer!
It's in DUTCH btw.

Some tips on using the K-x
You can fix the shutterspeed with the AE-L on manual lenses.
Shake reduction is Amazing! but it won't do wonders, and if you use it, the internal mic will capture the sound of the mechanism. So you will hear a ticking sound.
Put the camera on a tripod and with the band around your neck, hold the tripod by two legs en you have a great stabilisation tool.
Have fun goodluck and this camera owns.

I only use the AE-L to set the shutterspeed at 1/50 which it should be. Maybe try some filters to make it darker. And if you colour correct in post, it's always better to have a lighter shot then a dark shot.

There is, the iPad camera connection kit which i bought also has a usb thing. So you could connect the camera with the USB. I'm still searching on things what could make it a field monitor but this abit harder, There is a VGA adapter, so i should be able to hook the Camera to the VGA adapter. Like normally, the vga adapter will only show stuff when it's video, not the ipad self. So i need to revert the process, so that the ipad is the external source instead of the sending source. But we can surely try!

I have no idea, i have to import the file first so i guess that it automatically adjusts is so the iPad can play it. But still i've had lots of times when i had shots that were useless in post because of little things i couldn't see on the LCD screen. And this helps! i hope i can help other people with this info. It's also good for looking at photo's that were shot, cause it also supports PNF raw files

I bought an iPad, and i found the Camera connection kit. I wondered if you could put an SD card in it and play your KX movie files on the iPad and guess what it worked!
You can shoot video on your Pentax and then connect the sd card to the iPad and you can review your movies on the fly! i think that this is one of the most awesome features of the iPad, it lets me review my shot footage within 3 mins and since i'm doing heavy video work on the Pentax KX, i can now see if i need to reshoot something faster then on the LCD.
Just something i wanted to share!

It's a good video, you can see that you guys had fun, that's the most important thing.
did you do the 1/50th shutterspeed thing? it could help a lot.
And that's it, nice depth of field, good job.

Haha good guess, it is indeed the K-x with a Asahi? SMC 28mm f2.8 lens with the shutter speed controlled. And yes i only heard in post that the image stable thing(sorry i can't remember how to spell Stabilisation) But just pretends it's something hanging from the bag and everyone is happy again : D
But i will shoot alot more and everyone should! I like competition where the director get's challenged to explore many ways of film making!

Hey all,
So as most people know, Philips launched a film competition!
The rules are simple you should use 6 lines of dialogue and no more, add a bumper at the end of the movie and copy the link.
I think this is great oppertunity for us Pentax users to show what the KX and K7 can do! I already made one video but i'm planning to put alot more on the internet. You can win amazing prizes by entering your videos! check out the rules here:
Script: YouTube - philipscinematv's Channel
And this is my first video: You Tube |

I hope this community makes some awesome things to show the world what Pentax DSLR's can do!
Don't forget to follow these tips for a good shutterspeed and low ISO: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-video-forum/88535-setting-shutter-...how-guide.html
Now go out, have fun and shoot amazing things i know you guys can do it!

This is one of the most spoken topics about in this forum!
Check the forums or this site: Pentax K-x - exposure
Which will tell you exactly how to get low noise video. This will not work with a kit lens though.

I use premiere for editing and After effects for the effects :d
I am willing to say that Sony Vegas is more effecient for me when editing but i don't have that anymore. And After effects is also something to look into!

I just set the aperture as low as possible and then just shoot, no AE-lock, but some color filters in After Effects. Have phun with yours! it's a true beauty
And yes Karel is a common name here in The Netherlands.

Thanks for your critique! and your right i struggled alot with the sound of the Assassin clip and i don't like it that much. Sound design is a great part of the process and i think it worked better in the Fase 3, which will become awesome since it's a sort of I am legend without the cliché vampires. Just one man in the world alone trying to survive. But i'll update it here when the first one is done which will be around the 30 min mark! which will be shot entirely with the pentax k-x =D
And i don't know what frame blending is, sorry.
