Pentax K1000 vs. K1000 SE

"From what I've gathered", literally ;) , I know of 5 versions of the K1000-SE.

1. black Diamond Grip, SE sticker, with KX bump & s/n on top plate
2. brown leatherette, SE sticker, with KX bump & s/n on top plate. I have the Pentax brochure for this one :)
3. brown leatherette, SE sticker, no KX bump & s/n on bottom plate
4. brown leatherette, SE engraved, s/n on bottom plate
5. black leatherette, SE engraved, s/n on bottom plate

Most of the K1000-SE's I have have split-image/microprism focus screen.

IMHO - Best to look for another K2 whose condition you are more certain about and comfortable with.

Pentax LX 2000 price?

Every complete LX-2000 Kit I have seen for sale includes the Finger Grip.

One of the things I really like about the 'newer' LX-2000 is Pentax added a camera strap pin to the Finger Grip,
providing strap pins on both left & right sides of the camera when the grip is attached. On the 'regular' LXs, if the
Finger Grip is attached, a camera strap can only be attached to the two left side pins of the camera.

I like this feature, so I kept a look out for another LX-2000 grip w/pin for use on my 'regular' LX, too.
Amazingly, I found one within a month! I was able to buy a used LX-2000 grip with no camera attached!

Picture below is my LX-2000 showing the 'Special' Grip with camera strap pin near it's top.
I do not have the OEM leather strap, so I use a brown Tamrac N-45 strap on this camera instead.
Yep, I shoot with this camera, it is not a 'Shelf Queen'.

What so special with the MZ-S ?

I bought my MZ-S ~6 years ago. I think it is one of Pentax's finest cameras.
I have a lot of Pentax film cameras to choose from and the MZ-S quickly became one of my favorites.
Any poor photo from this camera has been due to 'user error'.

I use it with the BG-10 grip as the Grip + Camera fits my hands better.
Kool feature I like about my MZ-S is it consistently gets 37 shots out of each 36-exposure roll of film :)

Here are some links to some of my MZ-S photos I have posted here on PF:

I have one, which I found for sale here at PF Marketplace in 2015 (the For Sale picture below), s/n 29529.
My understanding is ~7500 were made and originally only sold in Japan.

The best way to 'spot' one is by the Shutter Speed Dial markings, which are:
B 20 30 40 60 100 200 500

This photo shows the items included in the MZ-3 SE set.

This one I found as NoS. It had never been loaded with film.
It's a shame a matching Battery Grip was not included.

I am still keeping an eye out for the other MZ-3 Limited set in the wood box :)

During a Pentax Forum drive to get more photo submissions for one of the Galleries, I submitted a photo of mine.
I was shocked at how 'snobbish' the rejection comments were.

Ironically, a short time later I was invited by PF to give 'critique' to photo submissions. I declined the offer after looking over a few submissions.
