Introduce your... film Pentax!

As mentioned in another thread, I finally found an affordable LX 2000 and purchased it. It didn't come with the "Special" 50mm f/1.2 lens, which is probably why it was within my budget, and I already have an A 50 1.2. Yes, I really want a silver A 50 1.2, but not for $1000.

It also didn't include the soft shutter release. With the help of a friend I 3D-printed some test soft releases and after a few adjustments printed them with black resin. Then I sanded the soft releases with 2000-grit sandpaper. I designed the LX lettering to be lower than the surface of the button. There are three coats of red polyurethane cured under UV lights, and one layer of glossy clear coat. The resin is slightly translucent. I also sanded one button again after the clear coat to remove the glossy surface so I can have one glossy and one matte release.

I figured while I was making these I should make a few extras in case some here would be interested in them. I have never seen the original LX soft shutter release so I don't know how mine compare, but I'm happy with the result. If there is interest, I'll create a listing in the Marketplace.

Nice copy of the SMC-A*400ƒ2.8 ED(IF). Exterior is marked up a bit, and trunk case is showing wear, but the glass is all clean, and it's sharp. Need to sharpen up my manual focus skills on the K3III, but seems like a good addition to my stable.
Put my MX on it, so it's legal in the this thread.
My oldest and newest, & smallest and biggest Pentax pieces.

A shot out back to my feeders, questionable light, and through a window, K3III

Getting the hang of the GFX 50s ii. I snagged the 110 and the 45 for amazing prices. Here are some of my first portraits. Love the RAW files and the colors. Fantastic glass too.

Found the AF to be more than adequate for my work and look forward to shooting more with this setup.

Lastly, the Pentecost River Crossing. A rather iconic final hurdle for the 4WD adventure of driving the Gibb River Road.

Also full of salties ( salt water crocs ), which I only later found out after having walked the crossing plenty of times trying for the perfect sunset.

First is 50R and Pentax 55mm, shifted and stitched. Some tilt applied for full depth of field.

Second and third were almost the sunset I was hoping for, but the clouds moved a little too far north. Still, low wind meant for good reflections off the river beside the crossing. Credo 60 and Pentax 28-45mm, exposure blended, and 50R with Pentax 35mm, single exposure. ND filter used for both.

Fourth is of the crossing itself, looking across the river with the Cockburns in the background. Credo with Pentax 28-45mm, Grad ND filter and CPL, focus stacked.

Fifth is with the 50R and 55mm. Tilt applied meant I didn't need to focus stack; the more I use this feature, the more I appreciate its usefulness. Grad ND, shifted and stitched.

Sixth was well after sunset, with the afterglow behind me colouring the foreground and the last light on the high cloud overhead. 50R and Pentax 35mm. Focus stacked, shifted and stitched.

Seventh was Credo and Pentax 28-45mm. I haven't fully warmed to the 4:3 ratio, but I tend to find it fits my purposes more frequently in vertical orientation; sometimes remarkably well. Focus stacked.

KM in Black with 55mm F1.8

I've re-lubed it and now the focus is buttery, now my favourite lens to shoot video too. Need to stock up on BW rolls now.

I do too. I keep battery grips on my *ist, MZ-3, and MZ-S. For years it bothered me Pentax would use CR2 batteries due to their price and lack of availability compared to AA batteries. But then I started using a Nikon F5 requiring 8 AAs. The data back uses two 2025 batteries. This adds a lot of weight and bulk to an already large and heavy camera, and 8 AAs don't last long.

I now understand why Pentax went with CR2s.

You might have seen this picture in my introduction, but seems quite appropriate here, too.
These are my 8 analogue Pentax SLRs and half of my lenses. Love them to bits... 😊

Although less dramatic, the afternoon light could make for some pleasing and delicate scenes as well.

Tumulla Bank, in the NSW Central West region of Australia, has always been one of the state's famously fearsome gradients. Even using modern diesels, it's quite impressive to watch huge loads being dragged up the 1 in 40 grade.

Last weekend, Transport Heritage NSW ran a series of steam-hauled trains using a 36 class and a 35 class. It just happened to coincide with sub-zero temperatures (in Celsius), frost, mist and sparkling sunshine.

I saw these ice bridges while out walking the dog and grabbed some snapshots but decided to return later with waders on to do a better job. It was pretty cold standing in the river (a little side channel of the Gunnison) but I think the perspective was worth it.

Hello to all Asahiflex users.

It was great fun to take my old camera out for a spin in the sun. I will post some results here when I get the film developed.

Hope more bring the Asahiflexes for shooting. :)
