Sure,
I have an 8 inch reflecting telescope - a meade LX55 to be precise. I have it on a mount which counters the rotation of the earth, so the telescope stays pointed at the object you are interested in.
I have a gadget that attaches to the front of my camera instead of a lens, and this allows the camera to go where the eyepiece would normally sit. This turns the telescope into a long, fast telephoto lens - about 850mm f8.
Those two pictures were taken with exposures of about 1 minute each at ISO 800.
I'm really just starting out trying this type of photography - I need to improve the tracking of the telescope, so I can do deeper exposures.
Fun (if very cold).
Nick

Here are a few from this week.
A couple with the K7 at prime focus of an 8 inch f8 telescope - andromeda galaxy and orion nebula.
And three birds from the back garden, a goldfinch, long tailed tit, and a thrush.

Black & White IR photos. Help/opinions please.

I was under the impression that DSLRs have an IR blocking filter in front of the sensor so you can't do IR photography with one. People who want to use DSLRs for astrophotography sometimes remove the filter to allow IR to be imaged. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the comments - I've straightened it up, cropped it and you are all right - looks much better. Was trying to 'lead the eye' but the cropped image is definately better!

Night Dorset Steam Fair at Night

The Dorset steam fair is a quite amazing thing. Basically held in a big field in dorset (middle of the south coast of england, only county in england without a motorway) it attracted 250 000 people last year. Nearly twice as many people that went to the glastonbury music festival. And basically it is all about steam power - traction engines, tractor pulls, ploughing competitions, and a *lot* of very strong cider.
Thanks for the comments!

Got the chance to get out with my new K7, in a brief bit of good weather this week.
Taken with my favourite lens - 50mm f1.4 - although it may be eclipsed by my new 35mm macro limited.....
I'm sure I could improve these with better light, or photoshopping, but I quite like the general ideas in each of them

A lot of the time, I try to just capture colour or texture. Here are a couple for you to 'enjoy'. Any comments gratefully read - are these interesting enough to warrant posting?
(plus I'm a newbie so I'm practicing uploading snaps)

Easy cable release question

I've just bought a K7 to replace my ISTDS.
Does the same cable release work with both - the one I have that works with the ISTDS terminates with a micro headphone style socket
It seems to start to go into the K7- but I'm somewhat cautious to push it home without being sure.
On the pentax website, it says that basically the whole range uses the same cable release, but it doesn't mention the K7 in the list....

Thanks for any help!

Nick
