Aperture problems with Pentax 18-250 and K20D

Hi everyone, I was having problems with the K20D and the Pentax 18-250. I purchased a Sigma 18-200 which works fine. Since then I have purchased a K70 and have been using the Sigma lens. Today I retrieved the K20D with the Pentax 18-250 from my bottom drawer and put the lens on the K70. Would you believe it works fine 🤗 I think the K20D and the Pentax 18-250 need some lessons in communication. All I can figure is that they are having a family (Pentax family), quarrel and are not communicating 🤐🤐

I have a problem with my K20D and the Pentax 18-250. The lens aperture does not stop down when taking a photo. It has never corrected itself. The aperture works when you push the lever on the base of the lens manually but stays wide open when you take a photo in all modes. I have ried everything I can think of. I have also tried the camera with another lens and it works fine. I have tried the lens with another K20D and it has the same problems. So I believe the problem is with the lens. Any thoughts?

I have just re cleaned the contacts and in the display "Av"at F11 when you press the shutter half down the whole display flickers and the F11 changes to F-- as it is flickering.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me????

I have a pentax K20D and am having problems with the aperture not stepping down when I take a photo or I use the DOF preview. It stays open at the maximum. I have taken the lens off and I can manually move the lever which seems normal. When I use the DOF preview the lever in the camera moves as normal. I have put on an old manual 50mm lens and everything works fine. ie DOF preview, exposure, ect.

I have looked at the aperture levers in the lens and everything works fine.

Has anyone an idea what could the problem be??

Looking forward to your input.

Wazza

Hi, My name is Wazza. I thought it was time to introduce myself. I have logged on to the pentax forums a few times and have enjoyed everyone's beautiful photos as well as the technical info which has helped me a lot. :)

Lately I thought I might get back into some macro photography so I attached my old screw mount lens (50mm 1.4) to an old extension tube and an adapter ring to fit my K20D. I managed to be able to get it working on aperture priority and went outside this morning to take a couple of snaps of flowers. I was pleased with the result as i stopped it down and took it at 1/200 (hand held) because the wind was blowing slightly. Nothing flash but I hope you like it.

By the way the lens and the extension tube was from my father's old Spotmatic (1967) I think. Also the yellow line in the photo is a cobweb covered in pollen.

Have a great day :)
