Alvaro, i like you settings.I also use to shoot raw but this little thing seems very capable , so good idea to try to tweak it a bit to ensure it delivers it just JPG potential

Interesting thread More I read it more i'm loving this GR .. I think it will be mine soon. :-)

Hi

My Q had a 03 for Xmas. This lens is funny, nothing to compare with my Sigma 8/16 on the Ks but the quality is better than expected and this lens brings a lot of fun on the Q line.

Here's a sunrise 7:30 in my backyard . I Underexposed 1 ev to keep the sky blue

K-01 and old Soviet M42

Hi

I just decided to test old soviet lenses on my K-01 . I think the combo (manual lens K01) fits very very well the K01 spirit where we don't take a shot but we just need some time to create it.

Here are some few examples with an Helios 44M (a 58/F2). I like those soviet lenses : for the price they are great and the background & bokeh they produce are lovely

1) Just bokeh

2) The son n°2 at F2

3) Bokeh test

4) Some bakcground

5) another creamy background

6) some action

For few euros, the helios 44M (mine is a m39 version ) is a real bargain and worth the price

Hi Everybody

Last week i went to Oradour-sur-Glane memorial, Pentax Q and 02 were with me ( as well my K5 + 8-16 sigma UGA). Definitively the small Q is a good companion.

FYI The village of Oradour-sur-Glane in Haute-Vienne ( FRANCE) in Nazi occupied France, was destroyed on 10 June 1944, when 642 of its inhabitants, including women and children, were massacred by a German Waffen-SS company. the original village was left untouched since then and it's now a memorial and museum. RIP

Here are some photos taken with Pentax Q and 02 lens.

+1 NormHead .

As well a sensor is not only Pixels density as it encompasses electronic and lenses to guide the light. Sensor technology has improved a lot on the last decade allowing to pack more pixel / mm2 while improving overall quality. Looking the photos generated by my IstDs years ago, those are not as good as the one generate by K5 and by far. An important topic to be taken in account as well are the lenses. More Pixel-packed is the sensor better needs to be the lens (resolution power) - You will find very good example on this Thread e.g when people testing lenses on Q , the result varies a lot according to the lens quality you attach to it. a DA*300 shines some crappy 70-300 don't

Just have a look @ the results you can achieve on this tiny sensor associated with a Astro 480 scope. Much better that what I can achieve with my K5 for a same FOV
If you read french go to the French Forums link on the thread, it contains many comparison shots and references ( Apsc and Q with the same lenses)

In the other hand , yes the sensor is small and Pentax Q does not provide the best Image quality VS Full frame or even competition . But well we all knew this before buying it no ? IT do have other qualities and is a big companion to my K01, K5 and old Film SLR

Well enjoy the Q

Hi

Some samples from a CCTV Fujian 25 F1.4 lens paid 20USD on Ebay with the adapter ;-) Just received it today - here are the first test

Lens is OK for the price; you will find many positive feed-backs on the web. PF is visible wide open but lens sharpness is fine @1.4.

PF disappears and sharpness increases quickly when close a little - let say by F2.0 . I've not noticed any corner darkness , so if you look for "lomo" shot you will need to add this as a filter

All shots taken wide open ( photo full size on my flickr)

1) Dof test

2- Cat 800iso

3) Bokeh Test

Here a quick example with Sigma 120-400 HSM OS - Tripod, + remote @3s - Traget is about 80-100meters

First with 02lens @15 : target is the red circle

Now with the 120-400 Wide open

Crop @ 50%

This is cristal clear., many thnaks for the explanation. I never did the distinguish between both systems.
Now i m just wondering if i need to add such gear to my Q,
i like birding and the long range offered by K lens on Q - let say with a 300mm - is already fantastic and provides a good reach . However here we've clearly reach another quality level
