Rondec, you may be right. I did fill the card up. I did not realize you could "overfill" the card.
I did recover the files but they were all corrupt.

I took some photographs of railroad subjects this afternoon using my K5. I used an SDHC card in the K5. My backup camera is a K10 with an SD card. The SDHC card became full so I pulled the SD card out of the K10 and stuck it in the K5. The action got very busy so I switched the cards very quickly. Without thinking, I put the SDHC card into the K10's slot (safer than my pocket, so I thought). I tried to take a shot with the K10 (the K10 had a lens I needed for the shot) and, of course, the card error message came up.
When I got home, the SDHC cards images from today were gone. I was able to recover them but, so far, I cannot read the recovered files.
Two questions:
First (and I suspect I know the answer), did my turning on the K10 with the SDHC card in it (which is not supported) ruin today's images? I note that all other older images on the card were fine.
Second, is there any program that will do a good job reading the recovered files? Neither Windows nor Photoshop would pull them up.
Thank you.

I have two Pentax DSLR's, a K10 and an *ist. I'm about to upgrade with a third. It is amazing that both of my cameras have functioned without any problems given the hard use they get. I take photographs while on horseback. I take pictures in high winds and storms, in railroad yards (trains being my main target), and in old dark musty abandoned buildings. The cameras get banged around a lot. They are exposed to a lot of dirt, wind, and indelicate treatment. My K10 has survived three hard drops. The K10 looks rough cosmetically, but still keeps chugging along.
I have taken over 100k photographs with these two cameras. My often used 1.4 50 mm lens unwound itself twice in the field (I was able to put it back together) but the cameras keep working.
I was wondering if any of you have had similar experiences with your Pentax cameras? |

I have a Pentax K10D and in the last couple of weeks I have noticed a slowly deteriorating ability for the autofocus to lock in and give me the "beep". It acts like it is searching for something to lock in on. It does a little better on the continuous focus selection.
Any suggestions on what might be the issue?
I am using it for the same types of subjects (industrial, trains) I have been photographing for years, so I have not changed the use.
