Thanks, that might be a good idea although when it finds focus it is usually right on. But I'll fool around with the fine adjustments and see what happens.

I'd have to agree with UncleVanya because I had the same idea as you and tried different apertures. That also did not make any difference. Thanks for the input though!

Interesting, considering the other comments from D-FA 100 users in this thread I think there may be some incompatibility between this lens and the newer focusing systems.

That's a fair suggestion. I've tried it with all different modes and it's fairly hit and miss. At first AF-S Spot seemed to work but after four successes went back to hunting. The only thing that seems consistent is the live view focusing but that's not how I want to shoot.

Thanks, interesting that you had the same issue with the same equipment. Unfortunately your solution made no difference in my case. Back button wouldn't successfully focus either.

I did and it did seem to focus fine that way. I can't say I'd enjoy always shooting that way but it's interesting to note that method doesn't have the same problem.

I just can't figure out what's different about this lens. My other lenses are FA50 1.4, FA77 Ltd, DA35 2.4, TAMRON 70-200 2.8, DA*16-50 AND DA*50-135, DA-L 55-300, etc. All work fine.

Hi folks, I recently upgrading my original K-3 to the Mark III this week and so far am loving it! For sure it is a better camera in many ways but it's also inspired me to learn how to use it better too!

I'm pretty happy with the snappy focus on all my lenses, none of which are PLM (yet). But one lens is acting weird and I wonder if anyone here has any ideas. It's the SMC D-FA 100 Macro which works great on my K-3 but seems to hunt on the K-3 iii, often not finding focus at all. Strangely though, it seems to work flawlessly for the first shot after the camera is turned on but not on any subsequent shots,

I'll keep poking around but thought I'd try to tap into the extensive knowledge on this forum as well!
