What is the lens that lives on your camera?

Mostly the DA-35mm Micro.

(My daughter 'permanently borrowed' my Pentax a 50mm 1.7, so I had to go with my next favorite.)

I appreciate the help, all! I think I'm going to have to break out the multi-meter and see what can be cobbled together, though. I'll be sure to update this thread with my findings.

Nope. Makes for some awesome video, though. it adds a buttery feel to video movement - no jittering if you can keep your hands steady.
It also serves in taking pano shots from a tripod - it will track along the x-axis while your camera takes shots at a set interval.

The K-3 II uses the 2.5mm fitting - I'm assuming it's a three pole jack inside there. The cable that comes with the gimbal has a 4 pole 3.5mm phone jack that fits into the gimbal directly so you can use the switch on the gimbal body.
I may have to give up on this one and stick with my IR remote.

I was worried about the weight, too - looks like the kit zoom lens and smaller primes keep the weight down enough. :p

Hey all! I was wondering if anyone is using the Feiyutech a1000 gimbal with their Pentax camera.
If so, are you able to use the cable shutter release?

I guess the real question is - do different cameras use different cable shutter release wirings? It's supposed to be compatible with Sony, Canon, and Nikon.

Thanks!

Abstract Little Death visits Seattle

Whenever I travel, I try to pack my little Grim Reaper for photo shoots. It generally takes longer to arrange the robes than to actually set up the rest of the shoot. This was taken on the sidewalk in front of the Space Needle.

I see that sign every morning, and the way it glows always catches my eye. I do like the starkness of the Seattle pic.

The neon sign that sits atop the Columbus Dispatch makes for a good shot if the sky is gloomy enough.

Apple orchards are great for the odd abstract pattern. Post processing was done on my Sony Z1s cell phone, since I keep it paired to the camera via Eye-Fi.

Nature The Moon (second try)

Thank you for the comments! Getting a shot of the moon is like trying to take a picture of a light bulb. As long as the moon wasn't full (and let the background go black), I was able to get the details on the surface.

Shutter speed: 1/320s
Aperture: f/7.0

I shot this in the main arboretum, was really fortunate with the background.

Here are a few pictures of the moon (obviously.) It's been cropped a bit. I bought my kit with the 55-300 lens, but never had much use for it. I think it's a bit over-sharpened, but I was really happy with the textures. I appreciate any commentary.
Thanks!

I picked one up today. I thought that Pentax had discontinued them!

I could never win one on ebay, and usually the used ones would go for $40+. There was one person who had a new one out there for $70+.

Guess I was lucky ebay didn't work out this time!

Hi!
I'm new!
I just ordered my Pentax K-x about 2 hours ago after about 2 months of lurking on this site.

So . . . just a blanket 'thanks for helping me out'.

My current 'kit' is a Minolta Z1 with a few filters (but I get to keep using my Hoya r72, so that has me happy!!)

I've been doing one of those 'a picture a day' posts. I'm hoping to come up to speed and get some nicer quality pics out there. There's only so much magic you can do with 3.2M of p&s . . . ;)
